Check Out My New Screen

Ok I just got this in the mail 20 min ago and it is the coolest thing I have ever known. This is a 7" LCD screen that has 2 RCA inputs and 1 VGA input. Thats right, VGA as in computer monitor input. The pictures do not even begin to describe the level of clarity or accuracy of these screens. The pictures are in 800x600 resolution and you can still read the text in normal settings at 1280x1024 and above. This screen far surpasses the "clarity" of alpine and clarion screens. The price is also almost half.

I have a connection to these and other screens for a really good price. If you are interested in one or any headrest monitors, email me or PM me and I will give you all the details on this guy I got it from.

Again, the pictures I just took dont even begin to show how clear these screens actually are. Even for being 7", it is clearer than my 17" desktop monitor at the same resolution and color.

Sweet, expect talk about a dirty work area :D

lol.. sorry.. last week of classes and I just have everything on my computer desk from school and working on my friends car...

My car computer is almost complete.. I will have the ITX computer built in a few weeks and it all installed.. the best part about the screen is that its a touchscreen interface that controls the computer mouse. :D

I think a how-to is in order for the PC build+screen+how it all works together.

I plan to take many pictures and document it on my site when all is done. I want to make a huge protege How-to site. I already have the domain and server setup, I just need the how-to's

hmmmm you are definately going to have to do a how to with pics and prices and such. Have you thought about hooking up a camera system using the X3 cameras. I have a system layed out to do night vision on my car using their cameras but running them through a computer would be much better.

I bought the screen from a guy named David Shore. He has some great deals on his website considering these screens go for over $600 sometimes. Check it out and if you make a purchase tell him I referred you, he will take care of you.

hell yea im doin that too i wish i had the money for the vga xenarc but im going to settle for the TM-701L 7" in-dash which uses the same lcd panel as the xenarc but im going to support the mp3car.com community and get it from Armen at digitalww.com and i want to be able to fold it away in the dash

so you are going to mini-itx route eh? that cool i think im just goin to use and old duron 700 lying around and ive been lurking around the mp3car.com forums and peopel have been having problems with the some of the new epia's with divx playback so im still shying away from that and for me i dont' see a point in bying a new mobo with processor if i have one usable lying around. . but if i needed it the itx is sick since you can mount in like anywhere. ive already wired everything for my carputer i just have to by the stuff to build my shutdown controller so the computer will be totally automated with the ignition

sounds like we need to talk ;) Got AIM?

hey bro. . it's traitorhound8

im usually on but if im not you can always pm me with any questions. . . ive pretty much gotten the whole install ready to go im just waiting on the money to buy my screen. . .but i have tested the feasability of it in my car and it works as the inverter does not creat too much line noise as long as you ground your powersupply to the cars ground if you decide to go that route. . . .im only going the inverter way as DC/DC PS units are way too overpriced for me

what OS are you planning to run. . . .i might actually try linux if i ever get the chance to play around with it as it's alwayas good to use when stability counts

I was planning on trying out XP first. I have had good results with it, but I might switch to linux once I get more comfortable with it. I might even try a dual boot setup if I get bored.

Are you going to be playing music through a 4 ch. amp or a HU? I am looking into the Alpine MRV-F340 for the 4 chanels and the the MRV-T420 for the sub. Anyone have any better suggestions? I want clean power and a nice look because I plan on doing a custom box and mount in the back later on.

I will catch u on AIM sometime

Keep posting, I've been looking at that same screen and trying to figure out how I would hook up a carputer in my MP3....

That's the way! (thumb)

actually im using the AUX in on my kenwood HU just to make things easier if i ever want to just listen to the radio. . granted i already have a tv tuner/fm pci card that i had for a while nothing beats the instant on of a normal radio. .. and the fact that im running my rears off the deck and im too poor to go out and buy another amp. . .lol

also i plan on leaving the carputer in the trunk as i don't see it possible to fit an athlon/duron rig with any decent amount of cooling under the drivers seat so if someone ever wanted to listen to a cd it would just be a pain in the ass to stop to open the trunk to plug it in. . ..there are other ways to do it though. . .i was first going to use the itx and mount it in the glove box with some kind of plexi enclosure and that would've looking kinda cool...

Ahh yes.. but have u forgotten that we have rear vents under the front seats? I plan on having a thermometer display mounted where I can see it, and if I need additional cooling I will turn the floor vents on.

LinuxRacr, I guess I will be more of a Linux Racer than you? J/k

kingvitamin, I will have plenty of pics and descriptions as I slowly mount the screen and computer on my P5 website. There is just a template for now, but the URL is www.VividYellow.com

what about when it's cold outside and you use the heater?. . . .heat up HSF too?

and i dont' like the idea of the few times that peopel do sit in my back seat and kick the damn thing. also the only coolers i have on hand are volcano 7's and a volcano 9. those damn things are massive and won't fit down there in it's own right. . .lol but im still in the works for a case so maybe i might find something that will work under the seat and maybe find a heat pipe or something

all of my decisions are going to be based on how much money i have lol (and the less i will have to buy the better)
