"Check for Software Updates" feature

I have a 2024 CX5 with the newer infotainment system. In System Settings there is a Software Update menu that leads to a screen with two items, Check for Software Updates and Automatically Check for Updates.

Has anyone used this to update the software? I thought that had to be done by dealers.

I tried it. It told me the latest update was installed. Then I went to wherever someone on this forum pointed to, downloaded an update on a stick and uploaded it to the car.

I've only ever seen the update feature work on CX-50s.
