Check engine light on

First off, that intake was not made specifically for an MS3. If you ask me, I would not have just put any intake on this beautiful car of ours. But hey, to each his own. Check the MAF wiring harness and make sure they have slack so when you do punch it or have some fun it has enough to move with the engine.

yeah I think it might be the intake. I might just get a mazdaspeed one to replace what I have now. Plus I notice I need to clean the filter.

just came back from Autozone. The scan said "link error" but it probably reset the computer cuz now the check engine light is off. btw, is it worth it to invest in one of these scanner?

link error??that sounds like it didn't even get connected to the computer??i have a scanner for me its a good investment cause i turn wrenches for a living but i would say it would be nice to have a basic one if your gonna be toying with your car from time to time

+1. Make sure you get one that deals with CAN bus or it won't work with our cars. This is problably what the problem is with the Autozone one.

that might of been the problem, but ive been to autozone for a code i kept throwing when i had my blow off valve set to vta, because it always happend when my tools were locked up at the shop, but the one i used at autozone worked just fine on my speed3, but some autozones aren't as up to date as others, but i think you should be fine as long as its OBD2

Nope, OBD2 has versions. You need the latest that supports CANbus.

it was a obd2 but I got the error. Do you guys have any link to a place where I can get one?

thats actually not a bad price and it looks pretty nice..i payed like 800 for the snap-on one, but it is bad ass i love it

damn...not bad but quite expansive. Do they have one specialize in mazda? (just wondering probably not)

now that I parked the car, opened the gas cap all the way, closed it tight, the check engine light is finally gone!

thats good to hear, i thought it might of been just that small evap leak since you said it happened after you put gas in it

well, i am about go get gas (again) so we'll make sure I tigthen that sucker down good!

hey guys maybe somebody in here can answer my question....installed some gauges yesterday an unplugged the airbag light near the ashtray to remove the panel. Now the airbag light is on (i did plug it back in and push it behind the panel). Now can autozone or an obdII scanner get ride of this? or do i need to take it to mazda?

Dont quote me on this but i think the airbag code is going to be a "hard code" and mazda might have to do it with there computer, or what i would do is take it to autozone and see if there scanner will work. but the problem is that its not really a engine code and most those scanners are made for check engine lights, so just bring it to autozone first to make sure, before you have to bring it to the dealer, thats what i would do.

check engine light came on this morning (before getting gas), and stayed on after adding gas (with gas cap tighten very much)

yeah I'll be investing in one of the code reader I think it's a good investment.

Reset the ECU first.
