Check engine light on at only 2200 miles

have you tried cleaning them instead of replacing? they have electronic parts cleaner you can spray in there

I suppose I could, but the car is under warranty. Maybe I'll go that route when it isn't anymore. Dealer was suspecting my CAI, and water getting in, but I've had it since about 3 months after I got the car and this all started recently. I'm on MAF number 4 now btw. I think it is the liquid salt sprayed on the roads the last two times, because it came on right after driving on the freshly salted roads. I've driven in down pour rains and never had an issue.

just wanted to say thanks to op back in 2005. car just threw P0441 and i got all worried. i always super top up my gas since i have a company gas card, but i guess from now on i will not.

Dealers who care about CAI

There's an act out there that I feel some of the posters in this thread need to be aware of. I believe it is called the magnusson-moss act. It concerns warranties provided on vehicles. A warranty provider CANNOT deny warranty claims (or upfront charge you) based on aftermarket parts unless they can PROVE the part caused the damage. And in this case, you can take that proof (in writing) to the aftermarket part manufacturer and usually get it repaired at their expense.

Tell this to Mazda...they seem to play by their own rules!!!

Actually a lot of people don't take this to Mazda, and it's not Mazda's job to abide by it. It's up to you (the consumer) to bring this information up to them and show them "ok this is a federal and state law, i want proof that my part (or whatever) was the result in the mechanical failure)"

If they don't attempt to give you proof/answers by then, the next step would be to get a lawyer and a bunch of other consumers going through similar issues and have a class action suit processed.

The reason why most people don't go through with it is because it can be time consuming, and on top of that it's kind of difficult and tedious to find a lawyer that is... what's the term? pro-bono or whatever crap? The kind that work for you and they don't get paid until the settlement?

Yeah, not many out there like that anymore (notcool)

The go between is this: the manufacturer or your aftermarket piece. I once had a problem with a Lincoln dealership. They were refusing to warranty the ignition on my LS (3.9L V8, COP ignition) due to Bosch spark plugs vs factory. They were ignoring the OIL all over the coil/plug boots and attributing a failed coil to BRAND NEW Bosch plugs. After I showed them the Magnusson vs Moss act, they still refused, and gave me the "get a lawyer" speech. Then I contacted Bosch, who was VERY interested to hear that the dealership was saying THEIR product was defective. You see, "most" aftermarket manufacturers verify their product actually works without causing damage to your vehicle. If they haven't, usually there's a disclaimer to that effect, as they can be held liable for any damages caused by their product without it. Of course... you have to be reasonable: a boost controller to 17psi, probably not an issue (although you'll drop off hard at the top end I imagine), turn it to 30 psi and you're just asking for it.

In this case, the dealership refused the service me (specifically said to "sue them"). Bosch said they needed a declaration in writing from the dealership to pursue charges in court. BBB took my report, and Ford/Lincoln pulled their dealership contract (but they were also GM/Pontiac so they stayed in business). Can't say the Ford pullout was specifically my case. I was contacted a few weeks later to have the car fixed, but I had already fixed it (was a $38 coil, I was complaining mostly on principle). Ford corporate was very apologetic throughout the process, and got the result I wanted over time. Had this been an ENGINE, or anything worth getting a lawyer over ($1000+), I would have, and won.

MX6 Starting/Transmission/RadiatorFan/Cel Light Problems

1993 MX6 Problems where only corrected by my study and determination. I concluded that the problem was in the PCM/ECM Module. Trying to fix the symptoms only made the issue more expensive and frustrating.

Mazda USA...no help, use the dealorships
2 Mazda dealorships...no help, throw more money at the symptoms
Electrical shop...no help
Transmission shop...no help

Finally I removed the PCM, and mailed it to ECM-DEPOT.
They test it, determined the problem and fix it.
Great company.

Got the P0441. Thought it was a random misfire but glad to see its only this purge crap. Hopefully it was the gas cap. Tightened it but it came on when my tank was only 1/2 full. Reset the code and hopefully it doesn't come back. Reverting to stock for dealer visit isn't fun. 20K miles.

It seems like everyone gets the purge valve (I got an engine light for it right before my first dealer visit for a fluids change and check out). It's totally covered under warranty, so if you can you should get it done...it will come back. I know that's a pain with all those mods, but maybe you can find a friendly dealership or just remove the ones that are related so they can't blame the mods (an engine mount can't cause a purge valve failure).

I'm on 48K now and my CEL is on.. would it be the purge valve solenoid? I checked the gas cap and it is sealed tight.
How much would this cost me to get this fixed? I will go to autozone to get the CEL code and will let you know.

It could be anything lol. There are tons of sensors on your car.

Yeah, you have to pull the code first before we can say anything about it...well, anything sensible anyways. :D If you have a 2006, it should be covered still under the bumper to bumper warranty. I'd think it would be covered under the drivetrain warranty (which goes up to 60K), since it's part of the engine, but warranties are tricky things sometimes.

Get the code and let us know.

I just got my 4th (or 5th) CEL but my first one with my intake on. So I swapped my intake back to stock and my CEL is gone, could this be because I disconnected the battery ? And if it is because I disconnected the battery will the CEL come back on eventually or not ? It's been about 3 days now since I went back to stock and the CEL hasn't come back on or should I just take it to the dealer anyway ? Thanks

You most likely had an instance where you were running just a little bit lean when the temperature dropped this winter. By unplugging the battery, the ECU will cycle through and do systems checks. Even if you had left your aftermarket intake on, by unplugging the battery you would have cleared the CEL. The only time it will come back is if you have another lean condition. (Keep in mind this is my best guess.)

2006 drivetrain is 50k warranty, 2007 is 60k.... I unfortunately found this out the hardway and now I have a weird "jump" in my car.

Mazda, you bastards (gun)(pissed)
