Ok stupid question, but how do you change the wiper blades?

is it me or did anyone notice the short life span of the factory blades, mine last 2 months

There's actually a TSB on this (streaks from wiper blades). Unfortunately, I've been unable to get access and actually read the TSB, but the jist of it is they will replace the wiper's with a supposedly better Bosch one. But I just went to an auto parts store and bought some myself in October, it was only $15cdn after taxes so I didn't bother the dealership.

You are right. I had to go to Canadian Tire and get myself some telfon ones. What a difference.

Brother had them on his GTI - blades like that were fantastic and only worked better at higher speeds.

I am considering picking up a pair as well, I hate my current wipers.

That's what I'm currently using.. I'm really disappointed because they were really expensive and don't work any better than the stock ones. Which leads me to believe the problem is the windshield and/or the wiper arms.

How often do you guys clean your windshield? Using the squeegee at the gas pump doesn't count. I use a foaming glass cleaner on the glass everytime I wash my car, occassionally wipe down the squeegee portion of the wiper blades with vinegar and use Rain-X exclusively as my windshield washer and I'm still on the original wipers.

My stock wipers worked perfectly for the first year. I have recently switched to winter wiper blades only cause the factory wipers get frozen in the winter.

That rain-X washer fluid is the best!! I use that too, the yellow stuff.
I tried the Canadian Tire "Teflon" washer fluid but it would leave streaks no matter what I did!

I'm going to buy a pair of Trico teflon blades today, providing I can find the rare 21" length that our driver's side requires. So far, two stores had a complete line of the Trico's, but none in 21" (wasn't even an option!). They have 21" listed on their website AND in the book that's supplied at the auto parts stores, but I still had no luck. More hunting today. Oh yeah, these teflon blades are only $10 each. Not bad, I guess.
