i had a friend tell me that her b/f (whose intelligence is questionable he drives a focus) did a diagnostic on her car when her cel came on and it came up as "fuel system idle" correct me if i'm wrong but isn't our obd-2 system so new that very few code readers can read it?

she has a 3 i take it...?? "fuel system idle" could be the pcv valve...??? may by clogged up specially if she has a lot of miles and hasn't change oil/air filter regularly.. just take it out and spray it with some carb cleaner i believe... not sure what else would give that kind of error..??

i think your intelligence is questionable....

if you are referring to can-obd2 readers there are several.. I have this one

$176 brand new on ebay..

the thing is the code was reset and it hasn't come back on. long story on hating focus owners. i owned one and it was a very bad investment. so the reference to intelligence was making fun of a focus owner. ha ha joke funny.

What is a PVC and where is it on the 3?

PVC is plastic plumbing pipe. As far as I know, there isn't any on the 3.

PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation and the valve that controls it is generally located either in the valve cover, the intake manifold or somewhere in between.

oh whoops... guess that couldn't have been it then, its a simple little thing that can be responsible for idle issues...

Maybe you're thinking of the IAC? Idle Air Control? Those don't usually go bad very quickly, though.

I had a leak in the hose going to my PCV valve and it pulled in air and made it idle wacky.. (on the camaro). I have also had a iac valve go to junk on me and make the car idle really bad.
