CarPC LCD TS help needed!

first of all i'd like to say this is for my 2006 Mazda 3 S\4DR

I am at a complete stand still as far as building my CarPC. I come from the technical world of computers and not a SINGLE thing of fabrication or building my own anything. i've looked all over the place to only find double DIN kits for my car that come close (and may work but haven't had any verification from anyone).

I am attempting to put a 7" or 8" which ever fits, in my 2006 Mazda 3\S series 4dr.

I would really like to keep the factory stereo in it if i'm able to or move it to my glove box (i've seen people on here do it successfully, not sure how difficult) because if my carputer isn't working or i just want to bypass and do regular ol' stereo\CD use i can. but my primary concern is that i have a SOLID idea on where and how i am going to mount my screen.

i've seen multiple ideas on here from multiple different people that have fantastic self-made kits to people that have slightly modified something they bought. i'm looking to be the latter, i can modifiy some but that's about it. i've never done any hands-on fabricating like this at all so, this new car of mine i'm not real keen on practicing on lol.

i'm not sure if this is allowed, but i would almost be willing to purchase a kit from someone, whether it be a stock HU replacement and then how i can put the stock HU in the glove compartment or a replacement of the vent piece with a pop up LCD mount (saw one on here and it looked great).

i've made a few posts on here with just referals to other threads that i've unfortunately already read multiple times that didn't really help because i can't fabricate for beans lol, again technical field not hands-on workmanship with these types of tools and materials.

this is what i have found up till now on my hunt for this:

- This would require me to replace my STOCK HU which i'm not big on since i'd have to put it in my glove box, but if it's my only choice i'll do it...

- EBay listing for a kit that would fit my vehicle. this here is a link to an ebay listing of a guy that sells this all the time. seller says he doesn't think it would fit, mostly because it's for a radio and not just an LCD screen and again, have to replace stock HU if i had as my only option.

- finally i found this website of a guy that builds these custom made, i sent him an email and didn't get a reply yet so i'm not sure how this'll go but the website is www.humount.com. supposedly a nice, customer centric guy but haven't gotten a response yet, so nothing there.

now for the monitors i'd like to put in...

This one here is the one i'd prefer to have if i could find a bezel to fit it.

This is the other one i'd use if the 8" dynamix didn't work.

Ideas? Suggestions? Comments? on these screens?

If anyone has any better ideas than what i can come up with on location of the screen, which screen to use or anything please leave a post here. i am pretty much desperate for ideas because like i've said before i'm at a stand still here as far as where i'm gonna put the touchscreen and how. i'm able to buy the stuff needed no problem. i just haven't started buying stuff yet cause i'm not sure i'll be able to put a screen in properly.

thanks for reading this and thanks for any help in advance.

try this site

Was thinking about the same thing myself. japanparts.com has an item that replaces the piece above your center vents. Looks like the piece that houses the stock gps screne in the MS3. Allows for a (I believe) 7" screne to be installed in a flip up type configuration. Hope that helps.

Buy the piece for the flipup GPS from mazda or whatever the site is, that allows you to house a 7" screen. Goto www.mp3car.com and look at 7" touchscreen VGA monitors. You can get a mini HP computer that will stash in the top glovebox and connect to the screen. You can add wireless mice and etc after.. I had a nice carputer setup in my old car but I haven't done it in this.

I'd go with an above the top vent location for the monitor if you don't have the fabrication skills for putting it somewhere else. Nothing looks worse than a botched install..... especially when it's on your new car.

on another forum there's currently a group buy going on from devin at www.thexenonstore.com for an above the vent LCD mount, with the monitor included. This is the best one I've seen so far. Here are the specs and pics.

7" TFT LCF popup screen
NTSC/PAL auto switch
16:9 Aspect Ratio
1400 x 234 Resolution
420cd/m - Brightness
3 x RCA video input
1 x RCA output
1 x CCD RCA input
1 x RGB input
1 x IR output
12V Dc

Bear in mind that this is not a touch screen. I know someone that has a touch screen mounted there and it's such a pain in the ass to reach that far to touch it that he just uses a little USB track pad instead. This monitor will open/close with the ignition and has multiple tilt settings for coping with sunlight. You can run whatever devices you want into this and then just run it into an audio input jack..... for a list of those check out my stickied list at the top of the electronics forum. The PIE or AuxMod would be great for this.
