Anyone have the rubber cargo tray in their P5? Does the cargo net still work with it installed? Do you like it? I'm thinking if I get one it will be easier to clean out sand and stuff.

Matt, I got mine the first week after I had my P5. The stock thing is just pressboard so I didn't want to trust it. You cut out small squares in the material so that it fists over the rings where the net attaches. Looks like it is factory when finished. I put my gas grill propane tanks, tool boxes, golf cluds, etc. in there and I would much rather just take the plastic mat out and clean it than try to get all the dirt and stuff outo f the carpet and spare tire well. It is not that expensive either. Look on Mazda's website and they might even have coupons for you local dealer's parts counter.
I got it about a month ago and love it. You will have to take it out if you want things to lay flush with the seats down but for day to day use it cant be beat. Two days after I got it I spilled milk from the grocery all back in the rear and none of it got on my car..we throw wet flippers and swim suits and towels on it with abandon
I agree, highly recommended. I got my cargo tray with the car. Great being able to throw anything back there without worrying about whether it's wet or dirty. When the tray needs cleaning you just pop it out and hose/scrub it off
I use the cargo mat in mine - It looks a lot like one of the floormats, but doesn't have the turned up edges like the tray does, so you can leave it in there even when hauling stuff with the seats folded down.
I guess if you were hauling some liquid which might spill, the tray would be better (assuming you haven't cut holes in it for the net rings) but for most other applications, I think the mat is better - It's certainly better looking
