Carbon Fiber SRI/CAI anyone?

Yeah I did reset it, it just just took a little while for it to smooth out the maps again. Second gear was just terrible to get through at first. Now its great, and I have my Forge BOV on the way.

So is the problem fixed? I was surprised to hear that you needed to reset the ECU- I didn't need to on mine. Did anybody else need to reset theirs? I'll add that to the instructions if it's neccessary.

Usually you should reset the ECU so the computer can re-learn the maps any time you do something that frees up more air. It's not necessary, but definitely recommended!

I forgot to reset mine and there were some rough spots while driving, but the ECU remapped itself and it drives excellent

reset it = disconnect battery?

Exactly, you'll want to leave it off for about 15-20 minutes, and some people pump the brake pedal some to bleed off all the system's electricity. But remember you'll loose all your preset for radio and anything else thats hooked up.

got mine a while back but just tried installing it....is the small hose supposed to be the long one and the fat hose the short one?

this doesnt look like it could work. The fat hose according to the instructions needs to go from the outlet of the BPV which is in a fixed location since the hose between it and the IC pipe is not flexible. So that puts it in the stock location, meanwhile the nipple on the intake is right next to the turbo.....even if this hose which looks to be like 18 inches long or so could make it, which i dont know if it could, there would be a kink in it from bending all the way around from where the stock bpv outlet is and the nipple by the turbo is.

and is the small valve breather hose supposed ot just stick in the hole in the K&N and stay there on its own with no clamp or anything?

You only need to let is sit for 15-25 seconds not even. Just disconnect it and if you want to pumnp the brake or turn on the lights real quick. 15-20 minutes is a waste of your time haha...

so heres some pics.

I compared what I had to the pic found here: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=44353

in my pic i have a long hose and a short one next to the bpv. the longer one in my hand is the one that was stock between the bpv and the IC pipe, but it is clear that with the bpv in the stock location, the fat hose that is only like 12 inches long, would not be able to reach all the way from the nipple next to the turbo to the far side (outlet) of the bpv. So i looked at the pic of the one already installed and it looks like the shorter bpv tube is being used between the bpv and the IC which makes sense because that means there wouldnt be a kink in the fat hose to the intake IF it is able to reach. But the tiny hose on the top of the bpv is not nearly as long on my car as the one in the pic of the installed intake above and as you can see from my pic, the bpv will not reach to attach to the short tube on the IC....

soo....wtf is going on here? none of this was in the instructions so am i missing a hose somewhere or doing something wrong?

no ideas on how to get this thing installed?

ill try to post more pics later but also worth noting there is a SERIOUS kink in the hose coming off the nipple on the intake. there is some bracket on the engine block that it hits as soon as it comes off the intake. The only way to get the nipple away from that bracker would be to rotate the intake so that the nipple is facing a little more up instead of sideways, but the intake is already hitting the fan and the more you rotate it the more it hits the fan shroud

I'm sorry you're experiencing trouble. The fat hose is supposed to connect to the BPV where the short hose used to be, and then the whole assembly bends to reach the nipple. The large radius of the bend is supposed to keep it from kinking.

I know the bracket on the engine comes close to the hose, but you have to play with the two hose clamps connecting the turbo to the SRI in order to get the perfect angle. It could take a few minutes, but by playing with the coupler I was able to get it all to fit in without touching the fan.

The short hose is intended just to go from the breather nipple on the engine and slide in to the K&N filter.

PM me, I can send you pics of what to loosen and play with to make it work. I'm sorry its not working out for ya, lets get this thing on!

yea, me and my buddy spent a good hour or so trying to shift it around and adjust it to get it to fit with no luck

I know what you are saying about it being close but it doesnt seem like it is even possible with the hoses given. As I mentioned the longer section pictured above WAS (stock) between the IC pipe and the BPV. I removed it and put the shorter section in there before that picture was taken. The shorter section pictured above connecting the BPV to the IC pipe was originally on the other side of the BPV between the intake pipe and the BPV.

The only way this is even close to being possible is if I swap those 2 stock pieces as is pictured above so that the shorter tube is between the IC PIPE and the BPV (the supplied fat hose is not even close to being able to reach the outlet of the BPV in its stock position), but once you do this, the the tiny tube on the top of the BPV is too short so you can no longer connect the BPV to the shorter tube you now have on the IC pipe...it just wont reach.

In the picture of the installed intake I linked to above which i found on your site it looks like the swap I mention, taking the short BPV-Intake pipe tube and using it instead of the orignal longer IC-Pipeto BPV tube because as you can see in my pic from my engine bay, the longer of the 2 pieces (in my hand) looks nothing like the one in the pic of the installed intake.

The issue then is that the little tube going into the top of the BPV which as you can see in another of my inserted pictures, is about 2 inches too short to even reach the BPV.....the tiny tube into the top of the BPV in the installed intake pic looks significantly longer than mine...

I have a pic on my friends camera phone I will try to post of the kink in the hose by the nipple, but until I can get the nipple to bpv hose even connected theres no point in monkeying around with the alignment of the intake just yet.
