Carbon Fiber SRI/CAI anyone?

Dude no way your gunna suck water up the CAI considering it's almost 2 feet off the ground. I advise not driving into ponds. Seriously though, you'd have to drive through very deep water to submerge(sp) the filter.(flash)
 
I haven't read through the thread but I looked in to covering my Injen with real CF before and was quoted around $300. If this goes through, this is a hell of a deal, especially considering the price I was quoted was just to wrap the existing parts, not construct new pieces.

I'll agree it's not very likely, but it has happened to at least two members of the boards here.

Damn, I guess I should charge more then, huh? Heh, I'm just kidding.

Seriously might have to make filter options, though, because the filter will be the single most expensive part of the kit (aside from my time in making the parts!) The current price includes a pretty much standard filter, nothing special at all.

I am still developing a shorter SRI, although as it gets shorter, you see less carbon fiber! Since I already have molds for the CAI and the SRI the way it was, it could just become another option- maybe we'll call the current setup the MRI (medium ram intake) (rofl2)

Slug420: The pics should still show up on the first post in the thread... are you still having trouble seeing them?

LordZath: The target for the SRI is $25 less than the CAI, whether its in the GB or not. The turbo to maf section requires the most work, since thats where the recirc tube and valve cover vent go, and I also have to make the cf-covered copper recirc tube to hook up the BPV.

Is it possible you could make a SRI for a standard engine bay? non-turbo? I have a P5...

That was actually my next goal- the standard protege and the Mazda3, along with hardpipes for the mazdaspeed. I want to make sure that everything goes well with the first GB, no major problems, then I want to start making molds for other things. I plan to plug most of the profits back into new molds for the first few months, which would mean a fair amount of products available. I would also eventually like to get vacuum bagging equipment and nicer workshop so that I can make more and better products.

But, first things first!

Hey, just a warning, you might not wanna get an intake if you plan on gong with a SC. You'll end up not using the intake pipe anymore.

Anyway, Cool product! CF *should* deal with the temps fine (for IC pipes)

Yeah thanks I realize that but damn it looks sexy! Could always be a good "until I get it" mod hehe.

What I'll probably end up doing is picking up a RB catback or hi-flow cat since I don't necessarily have to lose that to go WOMP.

I dont think its good idea for CF hardpipe, there might be leaks. Steel is still a better choice for hardpipe.
