Cancelling the Extended Warranty

I was wondering if anyone has done or heard of anyone successfully canceling their extended warranty? I've got 21k on my 08 MS3 and personally think that I made a bad move in getting the extended warranty. I do know that I can get some money back from my GAP insurance (I did purchase it at the dealer (pissed) ) since I am about to pay the car off [owned it for just over a year].

Thanks people. (rei)

I thought about canceling mine but I decided to keep it because mine was a package (GAP, paint/interior protection/extended warranty). I realized the GAP insurance would save me if the car ever got totalled and the insurance company didn't give me as much back. If you never use the extended warranty after the warranty is over, you get your money back anyways.

I canceled the one on my 300C -- got back all but a processing fee. Realized it wasn't worth what it cost. Didn't go for it on my Speed in the first place. 5/60 on the power train is enough.

I just got the gap and no extended. My finance guy said that whenever o cancelled I would get some money back.

I know you can get a refund if you trade the car in. Some extended warranty companies will fight you on canceling the contract. Others will, as noted, let you cancel, but take a fee for the privilege.

I had a friend cancel his extended warranty on his Subaru within the first year of ownership. I know it's not 100% applicable since it's a different make, but...(dunno)

That must be specific to certain plans...
Yeah, it's "fine print" time. I got some back on a warranty plan, only 'cause I traded the car early. Got a rebate on the "unused time". I'd think once it has run its course, it's done.
