Can I/dealer/authorities deactivate the passenger side air bag? Long story, but it will need to happen as I will have 3 kids come summer; all of whom require car seats.

I do not want to sell the MSP, & we can't have a children under 12 in the passenger seat in Wisconsin if there is an airbag active.

Please tell me some good news...please.

And setting it off with a bat to the bumper is not an option, so I'll stop you there if that's your answer.

not entirely sure. i know for sure on 2 seater cars it can be done. i would assume if you can prove you need it done b'c of 3 kids they may allow it as well.

you can "hotwire" the senor to activate it but I am pretty sure this will set both of them off and thats no good. This is a tough question. I would go all around to different dealers and ask them. If one says no try another and another and see what the different responses are. I would go to the dealer instead of calling them because that will proabably make some type of difference since you will be there in person. good luck

You can't fit 3 car seats in the back?

Good question actually. I hadn't thought of even trying, but just the other day we received a 3rd car seat. I'm going to try the 3 car seats on the back row and see if they all fit.

thanks for the input everyone.

there's a way to safely disable it... it's on google

Apparently I was smart enough to search the forums but just dim enough to forget about the rest of the e-world (google) (looks down realizing he grew to think the forums are the only world he knows):

Pretty interesting actually. It seems you can request an "Air Bag on-off switch" from the US Dept of Transportation due to (among other reasons) "although children ages 1 to 12 ride in the rear seat(s) whenever possible, children ages 1 to 12 sometimes must ride in the front because no space is available in the rear seat(s) of my vehicle..."
