Can I and How

get the **** out of the audio section(argh) you don't see me in the turbo threads asking why you need to get up to speed faster, which helps for a few seconds, and instead recomend a good sound system, cause you'll benefit from that at ALL times in your vehicle. if you wanna go fast, get a bike or a sports car rather than an economy car.

Dude I already made fun of myself (OK I'll shut up now... now I'm the turbo guy who drifts into the N/A forum and tells people to just get turbos.) Chill out.

Shouldn't you be in the Frontier Forum anyhow?

no, got wake is cool and he knows his s***, he doesnt have to go to any frontier forum, so dont you go chasing him off, ya douchery.

hmmm.. don't do it.

i would put good speakers in the front.... so that you can create your staging there. only need some rear speakers for some rear fill.... but you don't need those speakers...

don't worry, i'm on a frontier forum as well. but i had a '99 protege for 5 years, so i know a thing or 2 about them. plus i help people in the audio sections on another protege forum, a VW forum, the SRT forum, and a few of the car audio specific forums.

Dexter, don't worry, i ain't going anywhere.

As you shouldn't. I know you know way more than I do. I was just saying there's gotta be a better way for us non-stereos on wheels driver types to have good sound.

What also irritates me is I've posted on the clubprotege and protegeclub forums and truth be told i think it's kind of ridiculous you're putting one in your signature and posting here. Those places are essentially dead alright? We're a small market any you could only splice a wire in two so many times. Different bad? No, but 1000 posts to 10000000 posts of info, yes.

Rant off. I just felt like fighting with someone tonight. Fighting over the internet is retarded and I like to feel special sometimes.

you want better sound? install a good set of components up front and a set of 6x9 subwoofers in the rear deck, all powered by a moderate sized 4 channel amp. the 6x9's will fill in a lot of the low end, plus they don't take up trunk space or weigh much. i'd personally enclose them in fiberglass pods, but it is not necessary, depending on what you go with.

protegeclub used to be where it was at, but due to admin problems, and the owner taking over the website, we formed clubprotege. the attitude of the forum is totally different on clubprotege than here, which is why i don't spend any time here outside of the audio section. the mods on clubprotege know more about the proteges than any place else. theMan was even featured in grassroots magazine for his overwhelming knowlege of proteges. but to get to that info you have to deal with his personality, which isn't the easiest to get along with. he's right. he's always right, and he knows it. but to each his own. if you don't like clubprotege, don't go there. no skin off my back. if you don't like protegeclub, i'm 100% with you on that.

who's fighting? it's a reasonable discussion on a forum.

thanks for the info. I did not know there were 6x9 subwoofers.
sorry I can get a little combative online when I've been (cheers)
peace

Kicker used to have a line of free-air 6x9"s, 5x7"s and 6.5" subwoofers. They were perfect for someone who wanted a little more bass but still wanted to use factory locations. You put components up front and these subs in the rear and it was a done deal.

To bad no one makes them anymore. Its tough to even find non-free-air small subwoofers.

Rear speakers are pretty much worthless. I cut the wires going to my rear doors.

Something like this? I replaced my factory sub with this...

Clever idea... I wonder if it would rattle though?

I've got an 85x2 Alpine on order and some 6800cs Infinity components to put up front... agree the rear speakers seem pretty much worthless and not worth amping. (I'll be fading them mostly out.) I will get a sub sooner or later.... but I need to focus on the zoom zoom or lack thereof first. And the swish swish (that's supposed to be a handling sound (wiggle) )
