with cam gears probablymp3moose said:Would it be realistic to think that installing the jspec cams and tripoint's cam gears could gain 10 whp?
I read some old threads that indicate that this is possible....has anyone done this?

hhmmmm?mazdadan said:With the already advanced timing of the MP3, I doubt you will see much improvement. The ECU will probably freak out when it sees the cam gears. I wonder if Tripoint put sensors on their cams so that the stock cam timing sensor can read them properly?

They did. chdesign tried them out and noted that the exhaust cam wasn't originally correct (the sensor did not work), but apparently TriPoint has rectified the problem with the exhaust cam gear.
the cam gears will help any engine design if the manufacturer did not set it for perameters in a particular rpm range for the stock cams. ignition timing will only add to the benefit once other mods if any are made.DooMer_MP3 said:Well we need to remember: The MP3 has advanced IGNITION timing, which is different from VALVE timing. So a P5, ES, MP3 should see benefits from cam gears which affect valve timing. Am I correct???
