Cmon Chris. A 6" non-venomous spider (well not really a spider but close enough) is nothing compared to our 6"+ long Centipedes. The Centipedes out here do bite and are venomous. A bite in the right place will put most people in the hospital. Oh and when they do come in your house they like to hang out in the safety of your bed and shoes.L8R said:

When I lived in TX, we had a brown recluse in our house once. That wolf spider picks scares the crap out of me, but just the thought of a spider chasing a soldier in Iraq is enough to give me nightmares.

DAMN, I just realized there was a video on that page. That little guy is quick & ate a scorpion...I can't imagine what the big ones are like.
We DO have the brown recluse in N. America! I was a biology major with a focus on entomology, and on top of it I happen to have been bitten by a brown recluse once. I was lucky that it was just below the knee and I had shorts on. Since nothing touched the spider's back, I was one of the lucky few that doesn't get really "injected" with the venom. Still I did have a small hole open up in the flesh and had to go on anti-leprosy medication to ward off any more tissue dying around the bite wound.Notorious said:

As for the "camel spider", I immediately recognized it as a solpugid (an Arachnid, order Solifugae). They don't "eat" flesh but rather they feed much like a spider, by pulling the body fluids out of their prey. They do not feed on camels! There are about 50 species of them here in the U.S.A., mostly in the Southwest.
I never knew they could get that frigging big though! Even though I study this stuff, I'd s*** myself if I ever ran across one of those things!

lol. you guys crack me up. Im actually quite fond of spiders. I dont know why, they just intrigue me. I try not to kill any if I dont have to. Posionus spiders are a little different. But Im sure we all know why.

screw that. I HATE SPIDERS. You don't know fear until you have a brown recluse or black widow crawling up you leg. I have had both crawl up my leg and both times I was under my damn car working on it. Well the brown recluse was under my truck. I was changing a flat and was under the back of the truck putting the flat away when I felt something on my leg. I looked down and saw a Brown Recluse that was larger than a half dollar. Needless to say I freaked and smashed the hell out of both so no pics. Oh and when I lived in Texas we had Tarantulas and Scorpions living in the walls of our house and had to check our shoes and cloths before putting them on everytime.

allright i really didnt read all the posts but i was in saudi for 6 mths and them spiders suck.... they will run after you and jump at you..... specially what they do to you when they find you sleeping, bite you (its an anastetic in their venom to numb you and then eat away at your skin......) but it was fun catching them and having them fight scorpions and other spiders!!!! sorry saudi sucked since it was a prison with a pool!!!
