Camber Kit for Protege5. Anyone have experience with SPC?

I was looking around for a camber kit for the protege and found this. http://store.racinglab.com/ma90prspcpec.html

It's the only camer kit I've seen for our cars, are there other brands or styles? Installing it would be nice and easy but I don't want to get it if it's ghetto or unsafe.

I'm lowered on Goldine springs that lower the car quite a bit (0.0mm of wheel gap in the rear) and I know my camber is off because I have the report from when I got the alignment done a few weeks after putting the springs on. They didn't adjust the camber at all because it was within the "acceptable range" that their computer gave them, but my camber is quite clearly visibly off and my tires are right at the wear sensor on the inside and on the outside look like they have another year left (Kumho Ecsta MX).

55 is a lot considering it is just some special bolt, but the price doesn't seem too bad. When you say "other camber kits" are you talking about ones you've seen for the Protege? I haven't seen other ones before.

Might sound ghetto but I just went to a hardware store and got the strongest bolt and a few washers and used that on my civic, worked great for the rear. And I used that blue thread lock s***.
Grade "A" bolts I believe. I know on civic forums theres a rule of thumb on how many washers you need for how off the camber is, BUt I think you can't or shoudnt use more than 4 washers per side(bolt).
Hope this helps!

I'm still confused as to how just changing that bolt can allow you to adjust the camber. Do the washers just go on the bolt?

what???
simply adding washers to a bolt will not give you the ability to adjust the camber. the only thing that will do is make the bolt you will need longer.
adding multiple washers to adjust camber might work, but only if you change the bolt to a smaller diameter one, but that is not a good idea.

I use H&R Triple C Camber bolts and they've done a great job the past 3 yrs. They only cost me $25 CDN.

I know, that's why the whole camber bolt thing confuses the hell out of me. I understand that where the bolt is located is a good pivot point to adjust camber, but how the hell do you adjust it? The bolt is exactly as thick as the hole. For that matter, how do alignment shops adjust camber without a camber kit?

A camber bolt does not have a circular cross-section. It is eccentric (sort of egg shaped) through the middle. This is what allows adjustment of the camber by rotating the bolt. For anyone who knows about motorcycles, it is similar in principle to the eccentric rear axle adjusters used on Kawasaki sportbikes.

Oh cool. I assume it has the same strength as the stock bolt? I still wonder how you can adjust camber at all without a camber kit then. I'll have to have a look-see under my car

it worked for my old car with no problems
each washer takes off some negative camber
cant adjust it but you can get it closer to spec.

I believe the stock bolts are eccentric as well, just that they don't offer as much of a change. I have a set of two Eibach camber bolts that I bought before putting on my Tokico HP set, I didn't need them so will sell them (once I find them!). The information I have gotten from others with Proteges is that if you are keeping stock alignment specs you don't need new camber bolts for less than a 2" drop.

whered u get em?

Got them at a store in Mississauga called Kensai Racing....they're closed now but you can get them at any authorized H&R dealer. I think their parent store in Scarborough, ON is still open but it goes by KHI motorsports...or something like that
