Calling all MS3 GT Owners (I'm curious of how some of the features work.)

Aftermarket cheaps are generally cheap because they're trash. Ever notice that car that seems like its brights are on and then you flash the brights at them, only to get theirs back at you? That's the guy that bought the kit you're talking about. They put too much light in a housing not made for them, which causes nothing but glare and doesn't improve road visibility by much, if any.

Thats why people always do retrofits and whatnot in the honda world.

The halogen projectors dont have the right cutoffs and everything needed to point and aim the light where it needs to go with HID's.

Yeah I know that. That's why retrofits are a good thing. Putting in a cheap kit, however, is frowned upon. You don't get nearly the visibility you would out of a 'true' HID set of lights, and you endanger yourself/other drivers with excessively bright lights.

I know you know. I was just trying to reiterate what you said.

I didn't know... :-)

The first time I saw someone say that the "cut off" wasn't as good with the halogen projectors I started thinking aftermarket HID bulbs and ballasts probably aren't the way to go... Oh darn. I'll be sad the light coming out of my car isn't as white (as a DIY projector and DIY luxeon flashlight builder I truely appreciate white light) but I don't think it's worth what Mazda wants...

I'll just put this out there now: when a retrofit kit comes out for the MS3, sign me up! GB, retail, eBay... whatever.

I got the GT because of the HIDs and LED brake lights. Having driven with HIDs for awhile, I won't go back to halogen. I also prefer LED brake lights because they come on faster and stronger. I like to wake people up when there is a wall of traffic on the highway.

The rain-sensing wipers are nice. The auto headlights come on too fast, I wish there is an option change the sensitivity. The half leather seats still feel cold without heater. The bose sound system is OK.

ahem to THAT! i have to go through this tunnel with dark spots in the morning, and it's REALLY annoying when the lights flash on for 1-2 secs at a time. does anyone know if that's bad for HID lights? i'm pretty sure it's not really that bad because you're not heating up a filament when you turn on, but i just wanted to be sure.

I went with a GT package and so far, I am really glad I did. I am generally not one to go all out on modding a car so putting in an aftermarket HID set or even a full stereo setup isn't something I was interested in doing.

I think it's funny that people have referred to how "abysmal" or any similar adjective to describe certain parts of this car. Sure, some parts aren't top of the line but we're not talking about a Benz or any other high end brand here.

As for the seats not being fully leather, this is actually a major plus since if it were, you would slide around a lot more.

I am planning on putting in a better than average amp and sub in the trunk to enhance the stereo which will allow more power to the slightly better than average Bose up front.

When it comes to the HID lights and the rain sensing wipers, personally, I think this feature is pretty cool (burnout) I live in FL so it can rain and then be sunny about five times on my way home from work which takes about 50 minutes each way. To me, the sensitivety is just right at +2. The HID lights not only look great on the car but work pretty well on the 0 setting when driving at night.

If I were to do it all over again, yes, I would still pick the GT....it would even help the resale value as well.

Yeah, I want to change the sensitivity as well. The manual says the dealer can change the sensitivity so next time its in the shop I'm going to ask. I'm sure its just a little trim pot that you can adjust with a small screwdriver.

Thanks for pointing that out! I am having an oil change tomorrow. I will ask the service manager about that.

Thank you. I love my GT and all of the features it has. I didn't get one with NAV because I don't need it. If I wanted NAV I would get one of the mobile ones... since we have 4 cars it could move to whatever vehicle we take.

I like the half leather seats because "if" I wear a skirt to work I don't scortch my skin getting in the car at the end of the day. The Bose stereo does just fine for me... I have had the good, the bad and the aweful when it comes to stereo equipment and this one is good enough to listen too. It doesn't sound like a clock radio but it doesn't sound like the band is in the car with me either. I have had Toyota, Dodge, Ford and Chevy products before this car. I am impressd with this little car for what it is. Is it perfection? no but is it good enough, yes. It is no Benz or Beamer but I'm not gonna pay that much for a car I am going to drive every day to work.
