Anyone have pictures of their CAI installed? Especially the mazdaspeed CAI and where the cone filter sits in the car?

Mine is the AEM which is the same as the mazdaspeed CAI. The filter just out of sight where the pipe bends down and goes into the fender well on the lower right corner of the pic. It is in the drivers side fender well, the only thing between it and the wheel is the plastic wheel liner. You can still see through the vents in the fender well in this pic but I covered them with aluminium flashing but I have heard of people using multiple layers of screen material too.

P.S.
Moved thread to proper sub-forum. :D

Will the filter get WET...YES! will it hurt anything..... NO.

Lighten up toughguy.(boom02)

The reall issue I found is that on the driverside wheel well there are Slits cut in the fender lining in front of the tire. Now these slits will allow cool air to flow directly to the Filter along with tons of water and dirt. So what I did was go to Homedepot and bought some filters like the ones that go under the Hood over the stove and duct taped it inside of the wheel well the side the filter is on. This way the filter would still get air and the water would not splash directly onto it. And on top of that to double insure it I bought a Heat Shield/Splash Guard made by Injen that should fit any filter like this one SPLASH GUARD.

Now I can sleep at night LOL Try those things out! Any questions just let me know here or my myspace page .

Most CAI's are.

much more so than any other CAI i've seen...its practically open to the elements.

I had a CAI on the protege, but there was a peice of plastic between it and the road, and even so it always came out filthly, covered in mud and whatnot. can't imagine this being good for the filter element

dude...water plus sucking == bad. i'm not saying that a CAI will hydrolock an engine, but i am saying that this design seems slightly more susceptible than others i have used.

I've got a CPE MAFci and my filter is nowhere that low. Maybe that's the way it is for MS6's? (uhm)
