CAI comparison, MS vrs Injen

oh yeah. 99%: you're not going to throw a CEL with the injen. you're not going to ruin the MAF. just like you're not going to hydrolock with any of the intakes. they're all really good. personally, i bet injen and cp-e did much more testing and tuning than the manufacturers of the mazdaspeed. i've heard of CEL, knocking, fuel cut etc. with the mazdaspeed.
Funny, I've been running the ms CAI for a couple of months now. No problems at all.

There was a post earlier by someone who was a lot smarter than me talking about the differences between the Mazdaspeed CAI and the CPE CAI.

The concern was over the Mazdaspeed's MAF sensor placement being just after a bend in the pipe. The CPE CAI has an some sort of air foil located inside to steer the air to the MAF sensor to give the ECM a more accurate reading. I don't think there was a concern with a moderately stock car but was a potential issue if you were planning on tuning the car later on down the road. Your MAF readings would be inaccurate.

FWIW, I have the mazdaspeed intake and have not thrown a CEL (well, not because of the intake :-P)

i have the ms cai and i blew my motor(boom07)

If you did blow your motor, I doubt it was from the CAI. I'd wager it was from the jackassery as displayed on youtube. (piss) (laugh)

i like the fact that you dont deny that you suck at driving.. instead you try and make fun of how i type...? the picture you have describes you well..jackass

I think it's kinda funny you berated someone who didn't say anything remotely mean to you and attempted to give you information that had not been previously stated in this thread. I made a joke in reference to Clos561, who knew I was joking. While I may indeed be a jackass, and several people would probably side with you in that regard, I was not so in this thread. That title may be better applied to certain individuals in question. Namely those I've tailored my response to. (hear ya)

All of the intakes accomplish pretty much the same thing. The concern is MAF placement and how air is routed through the sensor. If tuning is not something you are looking to do (access port or stand alone) and you don't mind the possibility of the dealer not honoring work due to a non Mazdaspeed part, then the Injen would be as good of a choice as any other.

atleast you do understand the fact that you are a jackass...i mean some people cant even recognize it... but as far as me having clos561's post while i had my statement below... i have already stated it was a accident and was just trying to reply to all the real assholes... but thanks for your opinion as well...that'll do donkey...that'll do

hahahahaha. guys, jeez. anyways, nutari, i'm sure 99% of the ms cai's are fine. there are always those rare cases though. same with any intake. maybe i haven't heard anything bad from injen because nobody really has it. apparently it isn't covered under warranty though, haha. i spoke with my service manager today (owns a speed6) and he assured me that it makes no difference if it's a mazdaspeed CAI or an Injen as far as warranty goes. also, the only warranty issues that should EVER arise would be problem's with CEL and MAF. If a technition ever told me that my CAI was the cause of my valves bending, i'd punch him in the forehead and tea-bag him.

I have read 1 post a while back about a mazdaspeed (i think) cai causing hydro lock but it was in a flood and a cop was redirecting traffic through a foot deep puddle. Normal driving shouldn't be a problem in rain.

ive driven in heavy rain and it is not a issue, it was one of my biggest concerns but the splash shield under the engine is pretty big and does a good job at keeping the filter dry along with the shield for water falling down on top.

dam that would suck i would have to pull over and turn around or something if i saw a big puddle like that

Wow...someone is just a tad sensitive? You sure are big on name calling and whining about things. I respect most people on this site as intelligent and contributing to this community, even when we don't agree on a point. We still - typically, act as adults. You seem to possess neither of the aformentioned qualities. Grow up a little and come back when you are ready, which judging by your posts, would be after a few more years.

ah sdfu... i couldn't give a s*** if you respect me as adult... and im not an adult im 17... just as i didnt im sure swamp didnt take it all that serious, although it does look like you are...get some balls and come back when you are ready
(unless your a girl in which case i would expect some stupid comment like that to be made)...

im just gonna call my service manager and ask if theres a difference in warranty issues depending on which intake i get... if theres not i think it would be worth saving 100 bucks... plus the fact that if i was concerned about the filter i could juut get a dry flow filter for it...

So you are a sexist 17 year old, I see!

Do you not like girls or something? Try it you might like them, lol.

PS search and you will see that another Injen guy called Injen about using the dryflow filter and they said it would alter the A/F mixture as the pipe wasnt designed around that particular filter.

Could be BS but thats what a member was told and posted here. Besides after you do that you are only saving $40 so whats the point.

yeah, i think that was me that said that. i'm pulling the BS flag on that though. you can take it to your dealer and ask them if its running lean or rich. it takes like 2 minutes, and they'll probably do it for free. and $40 is $40. thats a lot of money. you can get shifter bushings.

haha whitey sdfu!.. if you are a guy and know anyhting about girls its most of em dont know anything about cars and get pissy about fighting like mr wats his name above me!
i could probally tell if its runnin rich or clean just by cleaning my tip and watching it while switching filters... but ya i know you arent spost to switch filters... but someone also told me that injen filters arent as bad as everyones making them to be...but tommorow night im probably oredering the injen intake... and then if i decide to by a dry air flow filter whitey that 40 dollars that i only save will go towards my hks... which is probally like 1 / 8 of the payment... me and controllo look at money as extra parts instead of just $
but thanks for yalls help
