CAI came yesterday

Cams and gears are rather expensive and so far have yet to show enough gain to make them worthwhile. For N/A boltons, header, intake, exhaust, midpipe, underdrive pulley, AWR motor mounts would be it for me. Then after that, engine management to take advantage of all those boltons.

which mod did you like better? The headers or the CAI?

Full 4 to 1 header removing first cat= 7-10 whp
CAI= 1-2 whp

Get an OBX header for 250 shipped
Get an eBay CAI for 50 shipped
;)

I have to agree with you there. Not seeing real big gains from cams and gears. I did not notice any difference when I install the J-spec cam. It looks like we are both going to go down the same path. I have been PM MPNick to learn more about the MPI tuner. Good luck to you.

Was there any metal burs or nething on the inside or any rubbing of the master cylinder. What about the finish also are the ebay cai's suppose to hold up to the weather as well as the Injen.

I have an ebay SRI, and burrs were the first thing I checked for. None on mine. After 2 and a half years, the only problem is the grease prints on the grommets. As far as the ebay intakes rubbing, the solution is to better mount them with the supplied brackets that connect to the MAF. I have also heard cutting the intake where it connects to the throttle body by 1/2 incheck or so will also help.

I was just thinking to my self if it doesnt fit ill cut it to make it shorter lol. I think im going to go ahead and get it plus buy a K&N.

Well just ordered it hopefully it wont take too long to ship tomorrow ill buy the k&n and get 2 day shipping. Raider you also live in florida so you dont get the salt.

If you are refering to the salt in the air the answer is no. I live about three blocks from the beach and hardly get any sand in the engine bay. Plus with the CAI the filter is inclosed outside the engine bay. If you leave the splash gaurd you have very little chance of water getting in there either.

Are you talking road salt in the winter? Nope, FL is nice in the winter, eh? Heck, I got the SRI, no hydro-lock for me either.

Well I dont drive through any rivers so I wont have to worry about hydro lock. Wish I knew the diameter of this cai so i could go ahead and order the K&N.

Well, this guy did not drive through a river, but he did get water in his engine through his CAI. Lucky it did not do more damage. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110351

Here in FL, there can be standing water very quickly on the roads, and a higher chance of water getting in the engine. Anyways, this has been debated a bazillion times.

I would wait to get it. I have seen various sized for the intakes, so it is best just to make sure you get the right one. I am lucky, my ebay SRI came with a K&N.

Water wont hurt anything unless you take on cup fulls at a time. I seen guys pour water into the intake to clean the combustion chambers out the steam cleans it. Your not suppose to rev it real high either tho while doing it just enough to keep it from bogging so he got ripped paying 55 dollars guy prob just let it idle for awhile.

I will second this ebay kit, they supply you will ALL the elbows unlike the one with the blue fittings, I ended up getting shorted one of the straight silicone\rubber elbows, big deal though, 3-4 bux at homedepot and its done. I kept this kit for myself and sold the other one to my friend... the filter on this one is alot smaller than the others, making it easier to fit into the fenderwell. my friends was a PITA. (his car has some damage to the side from hitting someones dog) which could have played a part in it. long story short, get this ebay CAI if you decide to go with ebay ...
