Cabin Filter Sources?

I'm trying to find a source for cabin filters. Aftermarket preferred as the OEM filters are $28! I did find out that the 2014 Mazda 6 uses the same filter as our beloved CX-5's.

Any ideas?

I really wish someone made an aftermarket filter.

There are many; this is a standard size replacement filter. Google "mazda cx-5 cabin air filter replacement". Advance Auto Parts, if you can stand them, lists 3 different Denso-branded models for the CX-5 from $11-18 (with or without charcoal, etc.) They probably have one in stock at your nearest AAP.

In my experience the charcoal ones give you peace of mind but no real improvement in air quality, particularly if you ever have a window or sunroof open. :) Every time I've replaced a filter, it contains leaves, twigs, and soot, of which soot is the only thing likely to make it in through your vents.

And FWiW -- Acura charges ~$200+ for replacing a cabin air filter because the people who buy their cars tend not to be the kind of people who'd fool with dropping a glove compartment door to save a couple Benjamins.

Received the Wix 24103 cabin Air Filter + Wix Engine Air Cleaner ..Observations

Received a Wix cabin air filter (#Wix 24103) and (Wix 49247) Engine Air Cleaner for my 2015 CX-5 GT today. As was referenced in prior Cabin Air filter threads of a few days ago. I must say that the Cabin filter was particularly simple to replace, mainly due to the rather flexible sides of the "glove compartment" in the CX-5; as compared with my departed 2013 Subaru OB, which had very rigid sides! Fit and replacement were uneventful so I will reference the Vendor, prices, and service, as was asked for a week or so back.
I bought the Cabin Air Filter from RockAutoParts...http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=3294357&parttype=6832&ck[ID]=0&ck[idlist]=0&ck[viewcurrency]=USD&ck[PHP_SESSION_ID]=4tca1pq7a5pif39pgjm0uesk66.
Price was $14.29 + under $5 fgt (was shipped with some other stuff) and NO SalesTAX to Nevada.

The Wix was selected for the reference to "Bioshield75" treatment which is supposed to guard against "growth of a wide array of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae and yeast." (their reference, not mine). This was the only treatment that I found reference to, other than Activated Charcoal in the Corteco Cabin Air Filter.
REASON: Particularly bad Pollen season, coupled with the smoky conditions from the really bad western fires this year !!!

WE SHALL SEE!!! (in a few months, when I will check it). To be honest, I did feel a waxy coating on the filter pleats. my take is that any coating like this will help to trap particulates faster than untreated.
I am adding RockAuto.com to my vendor list since they had very fair freight charges + good selection and pricing in general. The Wix 49237 Engine Air Filter (Wix) was $12.33 + fgt (under $5). This filter bears WATCHING and might be of questionable quality, which is unusual for Wix,. This was brought out in a few "reviews" + the observation HERE, that the filter "frame" is a fairly rigid plastic, that might deform. Both of these were made in South Korea, and I found it interesting that the "TREATED" Cabin filter was not sealed ion plastic, to prevent contamination...Anyway Engine air filters are more easily sourced locally, than are the Cabin Air Filters...
Hopefully the original poster looking for sources for the Cabin Air Filter, will locate this! :)
