Bye bye turbo #2!!!

You should know to not look at peak horsepower only. The reworked turbo spools a little later but holds the power almost to redline, where as the stock turbo will fall flat at 5500, which we all know. How much do your tuners charge an hour?

$100 an hour. Worth it though. Tim is a genius, he started pdx tuning years ago and basically made it what it is today

Try a catch can.. see what happens after a few days.. Otherwise if you don't have the money or the desire to build the internals.. you could look into the reworked k04 from protege garage i got it and it makes a noticeable amount more power than the stock turbo and runs a lot more efficiently and safely with higher power numbers like we have.
Its just another option before going gt series

Already got a baffled catch can and a new pcv system not from mazda though

I don't think I understand your post. Are you saying that if your turbo is toast and have to replace it anyway, that you shouldn't get a reworked K04 rather than putting a pure stocker one back on? That does not make a lot of sense to me. Maybe I musunderstand?

As to the tune, are you saying that a fully bolted MS3 engine with a stock K04 or a reworked K04 can be tuned to 400 whp and not pop? I'd really be skeptical of that.

And why such a fanboy for Surgeline? I understand they do good work, but damn, they are not the next Messiah of MS3 mods. I though we were just talking about running one more pound (19) of boost safely? Aren't they the guys that did your tune and set you up to run 19 psi on the stock k04 in the first place? With a name like Surgeline, I would have thought they were aware that the K04's efficiency map has a surgeline of 18 psi. and pushing it beyond that is likely to make it a good boat anchor. Maybe I'm not understanding something here. We're just trying to understand and trying to help.

No i'm not gonna get another stocker i'm gettin a gt28. As for surgeline they told me 19 on a k04 is pushin it but it'd be doable for a bit. And as far as the whole fanboy thing they are the only shop that can do a tune right now and make it safe where as a standback and uni chip just sorta trick the ecu which isn't what i'm lookin to do

not true im spiking 22 and holding 20 all day and trust me it isnt hot air, lol my freind has a speed6 and he pulled his wastegate line for fun one day, the car was boostin like crazzzy, it was a ****** animal, spinnnin all 4 in 2nd, but that was for like a half hour then he pluged the line in again, just cause by the end of the day the whole car would of exploded lol

Save this post so you aren't owner #2 of either of these cars, lol(thumb)

Well I think I've read all I need to know here. Standback sort tricks the ECU eh?
Best of luck to you - unsubd'

I'm scared a bitt..

Hey dudes; I own an 07--so should I invest in an extended warranty b/c it is coming up and I am thinking about modding...only minor mods so far....CAI, RACE PIPE, MOUNTS,

and what is PCV??

My warranty on my '07 just expired, screw getting an extended one. I can just about fix all the problems that may arise, and if I blow my motor, I'll just go forged.

(rockon)

im going forged soon, and im only at 34k

Positive Crankcase Ventilation, the first emissions control system, emerged in about 1968. Engine vacuum is used to draw combustion by products out of the crankcase. Always an issue with forced induction cars because of the extra differential pressure of boost, iow, not just vacuum in the engine but positive manifold pressure too. This tends to work PCV systems hard.

yo i no i tld u 2 go with a 3076 but dnt i got tuned yesterday and my tuner said to do the 28 and a meth kit, and u can run 20psi all day with no worries to ur pistons and rods, meth halps alottt with these cars, it allows u to run so much more boost, u no wut ur car will feel like on 20psi with meth from a 28? s*** will be ouuttt..

wow like no way mebe u shoud do tht insted of goin wit the 3076 cause it will make safr powr....? shiit wil be outt amazin!!!?....? like yea, no?..

Cp-e nano short ram and turbo inlet, ngr type-s bpv, cobb front mount, mr. lil guy fuel pump, turbo xs tbe, one step colder plugs (big deal right), and a full accessport tune by surgeline tuning runnin 19psi. Weird cuz i don't smoke at idle only in higher gears when i hit boost and let off the throttle. But i jumped on the dyno at surgeline the other day did a pull in 4th and filled the place with smoke. They gave me a difinitive your turbo is ****** lol

Lol dude how did you like Surgeline I stopped by there the other day and they had a sweet STi in there. Also have seem some youtube videos of their MS3 tunes.

Quick question did they put you on the AWD dyno cuz from these 2 videos of speed3s I have seen from this place it looks like they are on AWD dynos.

somebody explain how meth injection makes your car safer. I don't understand that.

Absolutely, it does. Look at a Reno Air Race aircraft engine. They are pumping hundreds of gallons of ADI (meth) through those things so they can run gigantic boost without blowing the barrels off the engines. It's always had, as it's main purpose, to allow you to run more boost and more timing advance.

That said, the way some people sound in this thread, I expect more blown-up engine threads soon. :D

Cool, it was a question that i didn't know the answer to, wasn't trying to be funny, thanks for the info.

I've gone there a bunch they have some sick s*** the owners sti is 490 at the wheels lol and yeah they toss ya on the awd dyno

There is alot of turds in the punch bowl on this thread lol oh well. I'm not gonna run very much boost for awhile just to get the feel for things. Defeats the purpose of bigger turbo but until i get all the s*** i need i'm not gonna go crazy with it
