Lemme tell u this, it took me a few hours and alot of bustin this guys balls to get what i wanted. im paying cash for the audi so i didn't take that bad of a hit on my car. a few grand at the most!
The audi is low mileage still had the factory warranty left and it has 2004 A4 sport package rims on it. ITs so nice. ITs what i wanted in the first place and i do plan on doin some mods.
Later

what does paying cash have to do with taking a hit on the car? that makes no sense, as a former car salesman.

At least the problems on the MSP are known... with an Audi, they're constant and new... good luck with all your new problems. You'll be getting to know your mechanic a lot better.

I was going to buy a Lamborghini but, decided on the MSP... it's just better... ;)

I have bought enough cars to know that if they gave you$17000.00 for your MSP they raised the price of the Audi $4000.00

did you guys see my lengthy posts about car sales tactics in one of the other "i want to trade in my msp" threads? you almost hit it on the nose.

Considering that I payed less than $17k for mine new, they must be doing hiding money somewhere. A dealer will have to make at least $3k on a trade for them to even care. Dealers want sales, but they won't give anything away.

That's funny. I was looking for a BMW 330i when I stumbled into the Mazda dealership next to the BMW place. You live....and you learn! I bought the MSP!

Audi A4...BMW 330...how is that in the same market as an MSP. Why didn't you pick up an RX8?

Yea the old or new s4 is sweet, I believe consumer reports does not rate the Audi A4 platform very high on reliability.

Since when has consumer reports been a credible publication?

It's basically a magazine full of skewed statistics from the general public and their opinions. The tests they do really aren't that great. Consumer Reports is more of a comic relief for me than anything. Occasionally they will have decent product comparisons, but most of the times they are just writing BS. Just my $.02

"Since when has consumer reports been a credible publication? "

Since it does not receive ad money from car makers. They survey the public regarding problems with their cars. Seems like an unbaised way to get info. Also in general Audi and VW have a high rate of problems per 100 cars polled. Statistics are hard to argue with...unless they are just plain lieing about who had what problems with cars.

Yes, but the results are skewed, because most people are only likely to speak up if they have problems. If their vehicle is reliable, they usually just toss the survey. Yes, quite a few of VWs have had electrical problems in the past, just like Mazdas have had their fair share of problems.....like the dreaded Clunk.

Even though the manufacturers don't have any influence on Consumer Reports, they still aren't a credible resource IMHO. Instead of basing their ratings off of features/functionality, they tend to be biased on reliability. You can't accurately rate a product soley on its reliability. If that were the case....we'd live in a communistic society where everyone has all of the same products.

100% completely not true. People love to talk about their good decision they made regarding their purchases.

"You can't accurately rate a product soley on its reliability."

But this is what we are talking about, the thing breaking.....which Audi and VW do not have a great track record. Consumer reports has Lexus and Toyota and Acura, Honda at the top of the heap.....and rightly so.

Look at these forums....you will read many more posts regarding problems/issues than people praising their vehicles. People tend to speak out more when they have a problem.

Yes, some owners are brand loyal and will fill out the surveys because they love a product.

Not everyone wants to drive a Toyota, Lexus, Acura, or Honda. The streets are flooded with them and I prefer to have something unique and not so common. I'd rather buy something with better features and throw a few bucks into it for repairs/upgrades here and there. Also, in the rare event that something breaks on a Lexus or Acura, you are going to have a huge repair bill. But to each his own. Different strokes for different folks.

but this isn't about you. this is about a guy wanting to trade in his MSP for an Audi. an audi would cost just as much as a lexus or acura to repair. what, you don't think it costs a lot of money to buy parts from germany ? lexus and acura are north america only brands.

let him do what he wants...since he's obviously got the money to do it, let him. he'll come back crying (if he's not a very fortunate audi driver)
