by pass valves. good or bad?

are by pass valves helpful when we have an intake for our cars? they keep water out or something right? i remember a while back reading a thread about this but didnt take much heed then because i didnt think i'd mod but now that im looking for the thread again i cant seem to find it.. i remember that on the thread people were saying that by pass valves on our cars wouldnt do much good.. i forget the reasons why but thats just what i remember? or think i remember at least.. should i get one or is it in fact useless?

useless on our cars. an intake bypass valve works on the premise of sudden pressure changes (i.e., your filter gets submerged in water). but with a turbo in the equation, the pressure is constantly changing, so the valve's gonna stay open all the time.

that's the reason i've been told. you don't really need one though. the filter sits up about a foot off the ground. if the filter gets submerged, i think you have bigger things to worry about......

by pass valves kill most of the gains on N/A cars, not sure of the effect on a turbo, since its pre turbo, but you probably dont need it.

Striker is right on here, you can't even use it on a turbo car. It even says on their website: "AEM does not recommend the use of the bypass valve on engines equipped with forced induction (turbo or superchargers)."

Isn't the suction of the turbo that keeps it open all the time? And I thought they worked great for N/A cars.
