Scapamouche:
I know how you feel - my experience with Cush Mazda in Escondido, CA was bad as well. Not quite that bad, but I cut it off before it could get worse.
1. I made an appointment with the Fleet Manager; she was "at lunch" when I got there.
2. I dealt with a substitute salesman. Nice guy, but wanted to jerk me around big time. He wanted a $1000 deposit, instead of every other dealership on the planet only wanting $500. :bs:
3. Then he told me that the deposit doesn't hold the car for me. "If someone else comes in and wants to sign the paperwork before you do, we're going to sell the car to him. The only way to guarantee you get the car is to sign the paperwork yourself, first." :bs: That's total crap as well - any other place on the planet, you put money down, the car is YOURS until you say otherwise.
4. As I thought about signing the paperwork before even seeing the car, I went back and asked him what would happen if I decided I didn't want the car after seeing/driving it. He said, "You have to buy the car. Once you sign the paperwork, we're turning away other interested buyers, so you're obligated at that point." :bs:
5. At that point, I got a hold of the Fleet Manager I was supposed to have dealt with from the beginning and told her what had been going on. She even said what he told me was crap, and I started to work with her. I put down the deposit, and she told be the car would be in on Monday.
6. Come Monday, no call about the car. I called her and she said, "Where did you get the idea it'd be here Monday?" When I said, "You told me." she replied with, "Well, I meant sometime after Monday." :wtf:
7. All through the week there were no calls, no info. I called twice, and the Fleet Manager was never there. I spoke with another guy, and all he ever told me was "we expect it this week." Not once did anyone say, "Let me check into it" or "Let me see what's taking so long, and I'll get right back to you".
8. Finally, Thursday night, I called and left the Fleet Manager a message. She called me back at 8:30pm and said, "Well, it might be in after Thursday of next week." I said fine, and hung up.
9. At point 8, I decided I had been screwed around enough, and they must not want my money. I started looking around, and Krillin hooked me up with a Phong at Irvine Mazda. I told him my story, and he bettered Cush's price, and I went and bought the car from him the next day.
Cush still hasn't gotten the car in, or if they have, they haven't called me. I'm going to go over on my lunch break, in my new car, and get my deposit back. Screw them - they didn't want my money, they don't get it. Phong was a great guy, helped me out, and got me a great deal. He earned it, and can enjoy the commission on the sale and my perfect customer rating that he'll get.
