Burning Oil

Guys, I am in need of some help. The tip of my spark plug blew out and apparently scared up my cylinder wall. Now I am burning oil. I would like to fix this but apparently my option is to bore out the cylinders and get larger pistons. OOOOOOOOOOOOr do an engine swap. Any ideas or advice?

good luck. those are you options.

You can use a thicker oil like a 20w50 which will slow it down but it will still burn.

I don't know about 20w50...it's well outside the manufacturer specs, and may result in poor lubrication...try the 10w30 recommended in the manual, and do a search...there are a ton of threads on this.

its warm enough now to where 20w 50 could be used. the lubrication wouldnt be the issue and it is jsut the thick ness of the oil at temp.

you could use a straight weight 30 for the summer

but either way you could change the motor or fix it. I would save up deal with it. buy a new motor do a little "tweeking" and dump it in when your ready

Plug failed? How long after install? Might be some comp from the manufacturer...

I would strongly suspect you had a VTCS screw let go... Inspect the front screen of the first cat to see if one is there. Or pull the intake manifold and inspect. You might also have exhaust valve damage. Did you do a compression test?

Me? If the compression test was good (head good) I would buy a short block and swap stuff over. Or go built if you plan to turbo...
