Hello all,
I recently took out my bumper beam to have it cut to mount my intercooler core on its 31" in lenght x12" tall my question is can I put my bumper back on withouth a beam Or do I need the actuall beam.Since the guy kinda did a bad job on it Im thinking of just leaving it off. So back to te question, Can I leave the beam OFF? If so were is the best place to bolt on te intercooler brackets? ANy help will b greatly appreciated..
Thanks for looking

the bumper will only sag if you break the little clips under the headlights when taking the bumper off, which is what happens to most people when installing their fmic. if youre really careful it shouldnt sag

my bumper started to sag. not much, but a small amount (noticeable to me).

everything is installed properly and the clips are still being utilized (i.e. they arent broken).

damnnn then i should put the beam back on then im try to repainted glossy black hopefully it turns out OK

put the bumper back on without the beam and see how bad
if its not to bad then leave it off, if its kinda bad, put it back on, w/e

but idk where ur going to mount the i/c now...

first of all....... 31x12 is a bit excessive since 3-4 inches on every side of it won't even be seen or have any air directly on it at all. An intercooler that size is good up to 450hp easily and don't kid yourself you will never have that. You're probably just gonna waste power and pressure through an intercooler that is too big. I got a 28x10x3 good up to 400hp and that way you can cut 2/3 of your bumper support away and bolt to that and still have it support the bumper.

U have a good point there.. so ur saying ill be waisting power wit a core that big even boosting 20+ psi on a GT3071R?

I like te way your core sits on that beam on ur sig wat kit is that?

I don't have the bumper beam, and my front bumper cover doesn't fit completely correct because my intercooler is too damn big. lhl

Cut the bumper beam into 3 peices allowing for enough room to install the intercooler. Use the 2 remaining side peices and install back under the headlights. This way, you can still use the foam support and have some crash protection in the headlight and corner areas. Take a look at the attachment and you will see what I am talking about. The intercooler in this picture is 24" x 12" x 3". Like the other guy said, much bigger than that and its a waste for the street.
