build-a-turbo

:
2002 Mazda Protege LX
i know of the MAM budget kit and the other kits for our cars out there but i was just curious if anyone has experimented with putting together a custom turbo kit. I would like to build my own turbo kit but i know on some cars such as the 2000 eclipse they are trash. any input or experience guys?

i hate that search. i still can never find what im lookin for. i find things that are related but i never get a direct answer to my question. so stop posting "search" and just answer my question.

this was a recirculating t3 kit from mpi, the only thing left of that kit is the ex manifold, intercooler and extra injectors

we changed the turbo, piping, maf location, so it is pretty much custom.

just make sure you have fuel management!!!

is a EMS better than a FMU? Id like to get the Greddy E-Manage. I dont know much about the electronic part of this stuff. Will the e-manage take care of my fuel management issues?

dude seriously use the F$%$# search button and stop posting the same questions over and over, dont tell us the search button does not work we have been using it for years

yes u want to get some type of ems that way the car will make good power and be reliable. i put together my kit with everything from a spool manifold to a generic front mount to an mpi with extra injectors and custom ic piping. u can see my setup here if u would like http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123631980
puttin ur own kit together should save u money in the long run, i think

"Custom Turbo" + search = PROFIT!

the only change to this is I would add the inexperience factor that will probably put you at the break even vs buying a prebuilt kit. However the next time you go to build one you will be in the know.

I've had to redo all my IC piping and it's pretty much like a train set. Nothing that complicated. Havent done all the turbo connections so I can't speak to that.

that didnt answer my question so dont post under my thread.

For someone who is new on the forum you sure have an attitude. Chill out and maybe u will get some useful information. People don't like helping dicks.

ive tried be patient but there are some ass holes that only come to the threads to give people like me a hard time. yea im new to the threads and im still learnin to navigate it. but that doesnt give the right to anyone to be an asshole. im jus tryin to learn what i can and i dont need to get any s*** from anyone.

I never give someone a hard time off the bat. I did a search and came up with some good starting places, which would able you to narrow down your parameters. My comment was a joke, written to make the point, and provide a giggle.

Unfortunately, there is attitude in your responses, and that makes the veterans of this forum rather reluctant to help you out. We have an amazing wealth of info here, and what we would like from you it to research the custom kits that are already here (there are a couple), as well as the established kits, and THEN come back with more centered questions. You'll learn a lot more in the process.

You're getting s*** because you're dishing it. Ours is a tight community and we tend to gang up on anyone who uses the term "Asshole" to describe a fellow member, especially when they're new. Chill out, search and read some threads all the way through, come back with some solid info, minus the attitude, and I promise we'll be more than willing to help you out. Or, at least I will.

Trust me, it'll work.

I do agree with what is said above, but one thing you have to remember is, most people just starting out are younger. They want answers quickly and not be BS'ed about certain things. I can be that way too.

Also not everyone can or does understand how to use the forum correctly. So telling someone to search for something, may make you think like your helping them, but if they don't know how to properly use the search button on here.

I'm not sure if there is one already, but someone should make a Searching 101 type topic for noob's so they can understand how to search for the info. The guy who made this thread said he has searched for the answers but never found them. So either he has not found the answer he is looking with the searches, or he is not familar with how to search on the forums.

the bs is part of the learning process so you dont make the same mistakes later on. so read all and take it all in young grasshopper.
*cough*search*/cough*

I think the main problem that new people (young or old) come up against in this forum is they want people to answer a question just for them, even if it's been answered before. As a result, they catch s*** for asking base questions and expecting us to answer the same thing over and over. Search first, and then come in with specifics to have us fill in the details, and you'll find that we'll jump through hoops to help someone that first helps themself.

The search engine on this forum can be EXTREMELY frustrating, as it deletes "common" words and anything less than 4 letters long from your search. So if you're looking for "MSP Turbo EMS for FSDE," all that it will search for is "Turbo." It's a b**** to use and I've cursed it out a couple of times.

Slack: start with a title search (click on "advanced search") and search for "Custom Turbo." The results will let you know what others are/have been running. Also, read through the stickied threads in the FI (Forced Induction) section of our forum. There's a lot of good info there.
