Brembo Rotors + SS lines + Hawk Pads = Excellent Stopping Power

Well, tonight I spent the entire evening installing my new brakes. The install consisted of Brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors, Hawk HPS brake pads, and Goodridge stainless steel lines. Spent the time to flush the entire system on put new fluid in too. But the work was all worth it when I test drove it. My car stops on a dime. Screw ABS, my brakes will easily stop faster:)

The lines and pads alone are what increase the breaking. Nice install though, I'd like to get a set of braided lines for mine. I may, too, invest in some HPS pads (HP+ is probably too agressive). Just be sure to keep your wheels clean, the dust from the Hawks can easily eat away at the finish.

Lines don't increase stopping power, they just help the feel, and help with fade, as I recall. ;)

Most likely it feels a lot better because you bled the brakes, but pads help a bunch. The rotors are actually worse for braking as they have less surface area.

lines can increase pressure in the brakes, more power the pads, and more stopping power.. i this case , i would think charles is right, i order to get that much more pressure you lines have to have old and worn out lines that stretch ALOT.. My buddys miata was a noticable differance in stopping distance, then again his car has 180,000 miles on it and bigger brakes from the 95 and up cars..but iv seen others at autocross that just had better feel, nothing more... the P5 is a new car and the lines dont stretch that much, a very small amount of pressure change to the brakes, and you get the have a better feel in the pedel but not the huge stopping distances.. as the brakes get hot (real hot) the lines stretch more, and in this case the lines would make a big improvement, i would think.. guys that run track alot will know more about this as i dont get brakes to that temp to much.. havent had the P5 real hot yet as iv only owned this car for few months, so i could be very wrong about the P5 brakes at temp.... just my two cents hehe

Actually, from what I read from a book, ABS does not make your car stop faster. Instead, it only prevents you to slip and to still gain some control of your car.

ABS lets you steer while you're trying to come to a stop on a slippery surface. =) Good for day to day, and all that, but not so good for the track. It's fine, though, for me. Doesn't bother me, either way.

Seems to work well enough for me, but I'd like to rig up a switch in the engine compartment to turn it on and off when I'd like. If anyone would care to enlighten me on an easy way to do that. =)

I bought the Brembo rotors at Ebay for $195 for all 4. The pads I bought at tiretrack.com for about $100. The SS lines from Corksport (best place to buy from) for $99. If you include the $10 in DOT-4 brake fluid and the $20 to rent the brake fluid pump to bleed the lines.
