Breaks!

Is there any kind of warning system on the CX-9 regarding breaks and when they should be replaced? I recall on chevy's they have a lil metal clip that rubs on the rotor when the pad is below a safe point, as an auditory warning.

I'm at 57K on my original set (which is way impressive) but 7k ago the shop said that I was getting low. So I'm curious if I should expect something, before the grinding happens? or just be pre-emptive and get them done now.

Thanks!

In my old BMW, there is a sensor kit embedded in the pad. When the metal wire is worn out, the circuit is open, and it raises a warning message, "Brake Inspection", in the dash's text info display.

For most vehicles, the pads just give squeaking noises to inform drivers.

I think the metal bit on pads is pretty standard. You'll start to hear a light squealing when it's exposed, but before the pad material is gone.
