Jacekd the car up to check the wheels, rears spin pretty well but there is this werid scratching noise every quarter turn or so?? is this a problem? e break is off, car in park. rims spin about4-5 revolutions per push

front drivers side rim does not spin even a full revolution before stopping. is this normal? car is in neutral. passenger side fronts are not as bad, but spin only a turn and a half or so before stopping.

are these symptoms of a brake problem?

IIRC, my 1990 Accord didn't spin in neutral either. I wanna say this is normal.

It's normal. Disk brakes drag a bit since nothing pulls the pad off the rotor. Tho now that you mention it, it is interesting how the rears on our P5s really seem to spin pretty freely. (I'm used to rears spinning free due to rear drums) Maybe it's due to using the e-brake just before you do it.

well cars dont roll when they are in park, so why would the wheels turn if its in park? id say they arent spinning because you said the car is in P

Unless the car has a limited slip differential the wheels will turn when front wheels are jacked up. They will usuallly be little harder to turn because the half shafts are connected to the differential and the opposite wheel turns in the opposite direction. They should require near equal force to turn. Based your description it doesn't sound like you have a problem unless the car pulls when braking.

The rear ticking noise you hear may be the rotor slightly contacting the brake pad. Not a big problem.

the car pulls pretty bad actually.... I also am getting bad gas milage, as seen in the other thread.

why would the diver side spin less than the passenger if it was normal ? thats what made me think twice about it.

Pulling when braking does indicate you have a problem. Operating problems are a better indicator of problems than spinning the wheels. That could be caused due to no lubricant on the caliper slider pins. When the brake pads wear the slider pins allows the caliper to slide to correct for the wear. Cleaning and lubricating the slider will help if sliders are the problem.

Another possibility is the caliper pistons are sticking. If the brake fluid isn't changed every few years the old fluid gets contaminated and the caliper cylinder and piston gum up and and bind or the seals loose their flexibility and the piston doesn't release.

Another possibility is the flex brake hos has internal deterioration blocking fluid return.

Determine which of the above problems you have and replace or clean and lubricate as appropriate.

Would you care to explain more how to lube the slide pin? I think I have a similar situation. Thanks in advance.

Remove and clean the chrome 'slider bolts' that hold the caliper on with a crocus cloth (or very fine sandpaper and carefully clean any particles) and then lube with high temp bearing grease. Re-install bolts and torque to spec.
