is it better to buy a bpv or buy a bov and make it recirculating? im so lost with this easy decision. i obviously want performance or fashion and performance is to get a bpv. but if i get a bov and recirc it wont it be the same as a bov just with better sound? help. im so lost

I'm asking the same question. After comparing some sound checks on videos scattered through the web, I noticed that the forge BPV sounded great, much like a BOV but a hair more subtle. I'm leaning towards that in a strong way now, but if I did get a hybrid/recirc BOV, I would get the SU turbosmart. The Forge BPV is engineered specifically for recirc though, and I would be too tempted to rice out if I had the BOV available. Close call, but I think BPV is the way to go...

Don't ever get a vta bov cause you will never go back. Your car really will run like s*** even though the sounds are glorious.........

im running the turbo xs hybrid that recircs and blows off. not too happy with the fact that i have no shims and it still flutters at lower boost levels. like 5psi and under just cruising on the highway. under full load it blows off nicely. just purchased cobb access port and im running the stage 1+FMIC. At this point im going to put the stock bpv back on but am wondering what i should use. Looking into the forge bpv. would like to get the hybrid bov to cooperate because i like the noise but dont want to damage the car.

also forgot to mention that it cuases boost leak. cant get more than 13psi out of it. add shims to stop that and it flutters even worse at cruising speeds. Cant drive it like a maniac everywhere.

hks is good, i can swtich if i want to rice but recirc runs perfect on mine 280 shipped, im sure its cheaper now, came with everythign needed to run either setup

I'm running the Turbosmart Dual Port, but I'm getting issues with running rich, and sometimes backfiring, despite adjusting the screw properly.
If you look at the turbo system and how a MAF sensor works.. venting to atmosphere, even 50% is still gonna cause issues unless you're tuned for it.
The MAF is reading a certain volume of air coming in and the MAP is tuned to expect a certain amount of air recirculated.
The air coming in is still metered air and when it doesn't see th proper amount recirc the ECU compensates by throwing more fuel.
It's not a big deal but over time it will affect fuel mileage and going rich like that can affect your catalytic converter.
I love the sound but I'm not thinking of putting into full recirc mode that way I get the advantage of a low leak BPV.

lestat 13 and I have the greddy type-s. its a bov/bpv, can be recirculated due to the neck that sticks out the side (like on the stock valve) so you can recirculate it. Same as the forge but sounds kick ass. If you are watching youtube videos and hear the sound of the type-s you'll like it. I have mine recirculated and adjusted perfectly to where its loud as heck and I dont have to run vta to get the loudness I want

any kind of VTAing will make you run rich. The air that enters the intake will be measured and releasing any of it will result in a richer air/fuel mix. Forge BPV is the best buy of them all. It does the job, its adjustable, it looks great ! Not too flashy but its still looks good enough to catch your eye, and it has a nice bit of sound even though its in full recirculation.

I find the sound too pingy... not at all what I like to hear.
I find the Turbosmart in full recirc, perfect.

Ive only heard good things of the Turbosmart as well, but im implying that the price of the Forge cant be beat for what it is.
