i figure i would add this to the forums to help our people in the ms6 community about bpv & bov's
So I figure I would take some time (since its slow here at work) to post up some reviews of bov/bpv's to help people in the future choose which valve is best for them
First off I would like to state that I have not yet tried or heard all valves so I will comment on which ones I have seen in person and have heard about based on prior post and comments on the web. Second I am not disrespecting any product in this review and these products can be found on many sites to purchase . so lets begin
Lets take a look at the Bov's available for the Mazdaspeed 6.. remember a bov can make our cars run rich and in return can make it run like crap and can but not always make our cars throw a cel so "in my opinion" its best to stay away from them but people can and will do what they want
Greddy Blow Off Valve,
HKS Universal Super Sequential Blow Off Valve SSQV1 & V2,
Apexi Universal Twin Chamber Blow Off Valve,
Synchronic Blow Off Valve,
Type S Blow Off Valve
Turbo Smart Race Port (50mm) Blow Off Valve
Forge Motorsport Atmospheric Blow Off Valve
PERRIN Performance Blow Off Valve
TiAL 50mm Blow Off Valve
RKM Blow Off Valve Kit
Lets take a look at the Bpv's available for the Mazdaspeed 6.. in my opinion this is these are the best valves to get which holds boost the best and will not throw any cel's.In order to hear what they sound like you will need an after market intake! without it you can barely hear any sound coming from them
Forge Motorsport Bypass Valve
TurboXS Bypass Valve
HKS Universal Super Sequential Blow Off Valve SSQV1 & V2 but requires a fitting to make it into a bpv
RKM Blow Off Valve Kit with fitting to get a bpv
Now there are a few companies that make something called a hybrid bov that can recirculation and blow off atmospherically creating the perfect blend for performance and sound all in one without throwing a cel
Turboxs hybrid bov - not adjustable for switching from bpv to bov. must stay as a 50/50 blend
Street Unit Dual Port Blow Off - can become a 50/50 blend, full bov or full bpv
Turbosmart Compact Dual Port Blow Off Valve - can become a 50/50 blend, full bov or full bpv
Also below I have posted a few video's for sound clips. to my knowledge there are only 3 distinct sounds that these valves make. most have the common sound but 2 stand out. the Forge and the HKS make a completely different sound that can turn heads and make people be like what was that!
1- The common bov/bpv sound - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq9RuEPJ8Ic (This is the Turbosmart Compact Dual Port Blow Off Valve and also a great video on how to install a bov/bpv)
2- Forge bpv- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4ZStmVJIik
3) HKS bov- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOFxInTI8Fo
I am sure I forgot a few but this was meant to help the community for present and future members on picking the right bov/bpv and showing the different types. hope this helps!
