Bosal Sucks!!!!!!!

The humidity is what killed it, but I cant say that its bosal fault. Maybe you got one with some bad welds but if not, one thing is that you dont let your car warm up or you dont drive your car far enough. When you live in a really wet environment and when you start your car, what do you have, heat! The heat makes does little moisture drop condense into big drops of water (thats why most of the time in the mornings you see cars take off from a stop light and gallons of water are pouring out the exhaust.) SO! If you dont let your car warm up in the mornings when you know that you are making a short trip or just dont drive your car far enough to let all that water evaporate, BOOM what you have is rust and your muffler breaking at the welds. I bet you 10 bucks that your muffler rusted from the inside out. ;)

think again AustinG....it didn't rust....its made of Stainless Steel.

As for the bolts for the tip 1st? well they do make SS alen head cap screws.....

from the pictures it appears as though the pipe broke in what is called the "heat effected zone"....in other words....whom ever welded your system together did a bad job. I have had my bosal system for nearly a year now....and no problems....YES I know...your system was/is subjected to a lot harsher environment than mine....but knowing that...I still like my bosal system....

The bolts on the tip all were leaving rust streaks as you can see but the joint did not rust out at all. The metal of the joint has no rust spots at all, Nuke is correct.

That sucks 1st MP3 in NH.

I'm located in Montreal, we have similar wheater conditions. I actualy hesitated on buying the Bosal cat-back but decided to go with Racing Beat because it seemed a lot stronger (both the construction and overall look). There is an expensive difference in price tho.

Lower quality brand will always last longer in confortable wheater conditions...

Mine did this too but I found out the problem was that there was a gasket between the muffler and the tip where the allen screws attatch. After I removed the gasket there were no other problems.

I am getting the Borla becuase they hgave the best warrenty.
JIC has a nice setup but it costs a s*** load and only carries a 90 day warrenty.
Racing Beat has one too.

Post pics when you get the Borla. I've yet to see a Protege with the Borla system installed and I am impressed with the pics of it on their website. They just don't show what it looks like installed. If it is the same exhaust as some of their other systems, it should be deep and throaty. One of my friends has Borla exhaust on his ram air Firebird and it sounds awesome!

Bosal makes the Mazdaspeed
umm yeah they dont. those are made by mazdaspeed unless all mazdaspeed's mufflers (in japan) are made by bosal. when i was in japan at the mazdaspeed dealer had the same exact muffler and ones just like it for the rx7,roadster (miata), demio and so on.
dont you think that mazdaspeed would make there own stuff.

As far as parts that come with or sold at Mazda:
Racing Beat ONLY makes the muffler for the MP3 and MAZDASPEED PROTEGE

the "Mazdaspeed" muffler that is sold as an accessory from the dealer are made from BOSAL

All of Racing Beat's exhaust systems are made in Japan
All of Bosal's exhaust systems are made in South Africa

stop spreading ignorance

I was just quoting THE MAN. He's a dick, but as far as i've found, he's also the authority on all things Protege.
