boosting my 00 dx!

well wat were saying, besides ur actually pretty scary signature, Its not worth it to do all that to the 1.6L. U can boost it and stop.

I'm behind ya bro. Ive been very interested in doing the same internal motor build as you for few years now, but I could not gain any attention from vendors or manufactures without some seriously high R&E fees that are currently of range for my budget. I think an attainable goal of 300whp is very foreseeable with some forged balanced internals. Also you would want a high flowing cylinder head (large valves and maybe a PnP), another 1000 RPMs (heavier valves springs balanced lightened crank) would be nice, boost around 20psi (without a lot of heat), strong dependable ignition system all combined with enough fuel that is managed right (800-1000cc injectors supplied via 255gph pump maybe with a surge tank setup controlled via standalone; Mega Squirt-Spark, AEM, Haltech, Motec etc). Good luck and let me know if an can be of any help.

I'm going against the impossible and doing it. I've done the research and know it's best way to go. FInally got a great mechanic to help ( because I don't have all the tools).

SO here's my list of things I need!! It's a small list~

-FOrged rods and pistons (custom)
- ported head, gasket matched
- thumper kit wiht Gt 35R or GT30/40
- Bored intake manifold or switch (don't know yet still researching)
- bored throttle body
- 255lhp fuel pump
- A'pexi Power FC ecu ( i've seen it work wonders)
- fuel rail
- SARD fuel pressure regulator
- TUbular exhaust manifold (race spec)
- 550cc to 720cc primary injectors, 1,200cc secondary ( got off this months issue of superstreet)

- same side intercooler (easier for mounting but willing to go with standard)
- HKS surge tank
- 30mm or 40mm wastegate
- sport radiator
- stage 2 clutch
- brake booster
- springs/coilovers with 20.5 sway bar

parts installed (this is sad);
-brembo drillled slotted rotors........ um yeah woo hoo
-cel/mil eliminator
-flashed ecu

The only positive is that I have no expenses so I can spend nearly all my money on this car. I have yet to decideady yet wether to do camshaft/gears and pulleys. I don't think it will add much on what's already there on the list. Sigh... On the 15th I'm getting springs, exhaust 2.33", radiator. clutch?? July 1rst I will bore the throttle body and intake manifold, the fuel pump. July 15th should be the brake booster(still considering), fuel pressure regulator. Than the Turbo in september right before a car show.

holy hell. Talk about jamming some meat in those potatoes ( i know how it goes). Custom widebody kit too?? I was thinking of going crazy and fabricating one from a crx, it might work (not). But that's the fun~

what is it with you guys and huge injectors? who is telling you all this? 800cc for 20psi? are you just leaving room for race gas and 30psi or what?

I know from experience that my old car, 00 si, loved the huge injectors. I was thinking about 24psi at the end of the day and I might be happy. I've never used race gas and honestly I don't think that I know what would happen if i did at that much boost. Other than that it's just a bridge in case I wanted to go further. I don't know how yet but I plan to find out the hard way.(hump)

Hondas have much more volumetrically efficient engines than proteges. thats why they love fuel, because they actually need it, 20psi on FS-DE for example is NOT the same as 20psi on say a K20. yes same turbo and random other varibles.

your 00 civic was moving alot more air than your 1.6 is. therefore you wont need as much fuel.

im not saying it wouldnt hurt to have the head room, but you just giving yourself problems with idle driveability etc... at the same time

Very interesting! On the Protege I have 550cc injectors with a custom intake manifold running a a base fuel pressure of around 40 psi I hit 80% duty cycle at 1 bar (14.5psi) with a 11.5:1 AFR. In my WRX with 2.6 stroker and custom Axis 1mm over valves Kelford cams springs PNP head and intake manifold no TCV etc at 22-24 psi with a 11.5:1 AFR I run the 1000cc RC injectors at 80% duty cycle with 800cc injectors I'd max them out. Both car I also run methanol injection and not real crazy timing to keep things safe. FYI on the WRX I use a Hydra on the Protege a Mega Squirt and Spark.

as you would already know, it would also heavily depend on the size turbo, intercooler and cams (major varibles). but Im surprised you ran out injector soo quickly. what fuel pump are you running in your cars?

what if I had two turbos??? one to spool the other kind of deal???? Like the new ford pickup. I wouldn't mind being the guinea pig for that experiment

Its always good to have room in the fuel side. I mean, is imperative to have it, a small change in boost pressure running small injectors can result in disaster, we been there already. Running wrx injectors @ 15psi on the FSDE is at the edge, and we already damaged our first set of pistons.
