so i was planning on going all n/a but i realized that i just love the sound of a turbo>>>heres my ? how much boost can the stock internals take?

it definitely would be cool if they had also made the sedan ms3 alongside the hatch....kinda like subi does with their wrx/sti now.

buuuuuuuut....had it not been for the hatch ms3, i probably never would have fallen in love with a hatch at all. i always thought "ew, ugly station wagon." now, i have been enlightened....function over form

i dont like the hatch plus i think it would be pretty cool to have a boosted sedan

Very very true.

I think that was the same for me. Lol. I couldn't stand the 3 sedans though, until I got one in silver, and saw the awesome 2 tone.

Build your motor first. I did not and my car did not make it through tuning, Snapped a rod and went through the block. Another engine, forged pistons and rods, much time and money that I didn't have later... I am now driving my car... :)

However, the compression ratio on factory MZ3 vs MS3 is not much difference. I think MS3 is 9.1 and MZ3 is 9.6 or something around that number. Not entirely sure. Anyhow, If you don't do it right the first time you will be hurting from it later.

Smarter choice... AND SAFER choice is to just get speed 3

or you can swap a MS3 motor and transmission into a sedan
and dont say it cant be done, because I have seen it done, in person, and its AWESOME

And disgustingly expensive. Which is why we say it's easier, cheaper, and faster to just go and get a MS3 if all you want is a turbo'd 3.
Without caring about whether it's a sedan or not.

besides, if you swap a ms3 motor, you still have to get fmic. There is no room for it in the sedan... The hood is raised on the ms3.

Either get a MS3 or get a reputable kit (ie. tripoint), forged internals, a good shop, and a good tune.... Or don't do it at all.

Because of my mishaps... I have over 10k into my car... Pretty much just because of going turbo. Its not worth it if your car breaks like mine did.

Oh, and I just got my car fixed again because the threads ripped right out from the trans mount where it meets the frame. A problem I think has been seen in some MS3 and since the turbo increases power a good bit you may also encounter this. Maybe not.. But I did.

If you LOVE the sound of turbos just by the Blow off Valve horn! Then beep away! ;-)

They actually do exist just google it.

And ive noticed if you leave the radio on aux mode with the sound cranked with a 3.5 plug in the jack but an open 3.5 plug (not plugged into the mp3 player) you get the same turbo whistle as you accelerate!

Problem solved. ;-)

A 2007 ms3 for 13,400....think about what you can sell your vehicle at and go that route.

easier, yes. faster, maybe. cheaper, HELL NO. Theres no way it would cost 18-20k to do that swap
all you have to do is find a totalled MS3, which may be hard, but if you do that then the rest is easy

came across this guy in newport news, va who had around 10-12psi with stock internals and a t3-t4 garrett turbo. does his work out of his own shop. also suggested i look into a sts rear mount turbo kit from ststurbo.com (universal kit) and he would install it. so it can be done, just don't look for big boost.

universal rear mount....do you know what a rear mount kit is? that would be incredibly dumb on a 4cyl

no clue, seen pics on it, seems like it was attached to the exhaust somehow. a tube ran from the engine compartment all the way to the back of the car where the turbo was mounted, then merged into the exhaust. looked real good...check it out on the website...don't know if they make one for a 4 banger, but highly doubt it. just say'n that you can run boost with stock internals. just don't think you're gonna beat a wrx or something. and if you do push it too hard expect problems. if you're easy on the gas and not stomp'n on it being conscience that ur run'n stock internals you should be fine like the dude i came across...i come across strange things sometimes, like a 1970's beetle blow'n the tube socks off a v8. had dual weber carbs, a porsche fan shroud electric ignition, etc... got a pic of it, that thing was a beast i tell u, but thats another forum...

lol this thread makes me laugh. You can boost on stock internals at 9PSI max (someone said 12 and thats cool but run that for a while and watch it blow). I like the idea of finding a smashed speed3 and doing a swap. Now if you want to do it right and have big boost then yes a fully built engine is in order (also a bullet proof trans). The real question is how much money do you have and are you willing to fix your car alot (because we all know as soon as you touch your car expect to fix it).
