jaman said:If I'm not mistaken, stock boost is approximately 6.9 psi. So going to 8 psi is about a 15% difference. If you guys think that this one change will lead to engine destruction, then you need to read an engineering book on mechanical design. "Usually", any stressed part of a mechanical device can withstand double the average load, of course this refers to a transient (meaning it's not held at that level for a long period of time). For those people who say their engines blew simply because they boosted to 8 or 9 psi had a bad engine to begin with. This assumes that at the higher boost pressure the ECU can still maintain a decent AFR. Judging from the super rich condition in stock trim, that shouldn't be a problem with 8 or 9 psi.

All Boost said:my suggestion, although I have not modded yet, is to put in a boost gauge, see where your at stock. Leave the boost alone! But put in a turbo back exhaust, like it was said before, the stock boost level should go up abit from the turbo being able to spool easier.
The only problem there is that, without a MBC, you may be stuck with ~6+ ~1.5psi (from the exhaust).
Thats what i'm gonna do. Slap in a downpipe, and if the boost goes up, prolly dial it back down to stock for daily drivin. But with a 2 stage MBC its perfect for going from 6 - 8psi on the fly.
