this is such a newb question.....smh

im fully bolted on....stock turbo....running cobb ap on stage 2 v105

sometimes i hit around 22.7 psi and scared i might go higher

is there anyway maybe using a boost controller that i can set my boost to not go over 20 or 21.....i just want to preserve my stock turbo since im not really lookin to go big turbo....and i no im pushin the s*** out of it now but it hasent failed yet ; )

im trying for that to not happen....honestly my s*** has been going really well for my stock turbo...it dosent even feel like it straining....big turbo is so expensive im trying to avoid that and ko4 rebuild isint to worth it...

Try disconnecting the boost control solenoid.

If the boost goes above ~16 PSI, the wastegate is "maxed out" (problem caused by insufficient exhaust restriction).

Define "fully bolted" please, beyond above post. Specific combos of mods work well together and others do not. I'd need to know not only generic descriptions but specific manufacturers and your setup.

Also please be very precise on how your define "spike" including its duration, when it is taking place, at what rpm's, what gear(s), etc.

Also tell us what the ambient conditions are - temps, altitude, etc.

Need a LOT more info to be any help. I might not be able to help, but I can do little to nothing with the small amount of info so far.

BTW: Your facebook page seems to be locking up my computer. Is there anything about your car there we should know?

He doesn't have a boost controller...other than the stock one...that's the problem. Try an MBC hooked to manifold pressure and see if you can tame the spike. I did, by hooking as above and ungating it.

I am CAI,TIP,Forge,CSDP+RP. I hold 17-ish all the time. I think that's purty safe.

MBC won't help it will still spike

^bulls*** you cant tune around a boost spike. OP get a tune by someone who knows what they are doing and you wont spike more than 1psi over target, or put on a MBC and that will stop it if you plumb it right

^^+ Eleventy-billion. Boost spiking and creep, brought on by my CS DP+RP, were both finally reigned in by an MBC plumbed right. 17 pounds rock solid with 6 datalogs to prove it. Goddamit, there's some dumb-s*** "information" here.

so whats a MBC again?

I had mine protuned to 17 but its been spiking to 20 almost every time.

Manual Boost Controller. Hooking it up on these cars is different than the zillions of other turbo cars on the planet (of course). Hooking it up to the stock compressor nipple will have you spiking like there's no boost control.

What worked for me was using the Turbosmart Boost T, hooking it to manifold pressure at the BPV line and ungating it.
