The "CUT" has many different variables to take into account like temp,humidity,and others but all relate to ONE thing.
Maxing out the voltage limit of the MAF(Mass airflow sensor) by pushing too much air for its limits.When it is hotter out side,it is harder to hit the "CUT" as the air is not as dense.I have run up to 15PSI in the heat,but with the temp drops lately,the Air is a lot more dense and bottoms the meter out more easily at a lower PSI. THERE IS NO ONE SET PSI FOR THIS TO HAPPEN!
It is all airflow based and on the limit of the MAF.PERIOD.NUFF SAID!

It is not about PSI!
It is about airflow characteristics and the fact that we are maxing out the voltage(airflow) limit of the sensor.The mazda runs a different voltage than most all other MAF's so the Stang MAF meter won't work as it measures from 0-5volts at it max where as our meter goes from 5V-10V at it's max (I beleive).If you want to boost past that then get joe p's FCD at his site www.joepmbc.com
BUT don't be dick like everyone else was to make him soo mad to not want to do the MSP products anymore.E-mail him if there is a prob and wait for a response!

its not related to PSI.....however to answer your question at 12 psi at night you will hit fuel cutt. It's been proven over and over. Stay under ten or get an FCD.

i have discussed and tested this many times. the MAF on the protege needs to give out a specific signal to the ecu for proper operation.
it is a 5v meter. meaning it will bottom out at 5.0 volts and the ecu will go into fuel cut for the entire system.
you have to clamp the voltage to the ecu just above 4.0 volts. dont let the ecu see anymore than that.
off hand i dont have a CFM spec for the meter. Check the spec section for MAF testing and it will give you some info.
Contact the guys at Pro-M and they make nice meters for the protege now. that will help alot.
"PCM monitors input voltage from MAF sensor after ignition key is turned on. If input voltage at PCM terminal 88 is above 4.90 V , PCM determines that MAF circuit has a malfunction. "
It will throw the CEL with 4.90V, my guess is that flow cut is 4.85v.
