Boost Controllers

Alright, once again I'm looking to consolidate some opinions to help me with my shopping....

What are people having success using for boost controllers?

I'd need adjustability, not a set boost map like the Unichip. I've been looking at the offerings from HKS and Greddy (the Apex'i unit seems to be application specific?), and was wondering if anybody had comments on those units or on any other options I may have available to me.

Thanks much for the help. This project is starting to come into focus.

The best MBC is the Boostsciences sold by forum member 505zoom. The most used EBC is the Greddy profec-B, which you can find a ton of info and settings on.

Is the Greddy unit the most often used EBC because it's the best, or is it just more user friendly, or have better value, or better features, etc.....?

My application is a racing one, so the simplicity of a manual controller is attractive, but it seems the electronic units tend to offer greater adjustability of boost parameters. Not sure what I should do.

The boostsciences MBC comes with a lot of extras (including a vacuum block), has 2 boost settings that can be switch in cabin (1 for daily driving and the other for racing). That's what I have.

What's the vacuum block for?

I checked out that thread and have one concern. The accuboost spring is supposed to allow a 1.5-2 psi boost spike it was said, with none of the other springs being able to correct the problem completely. Because I'll be racing with a set allowable boost and a boost telltale to verify it, I need to make sure I have consistent high boost settings. Can I achieve that with this boost controller?

Also, some of the EBC's seem to allow tuning for quicker spool-up (like the ceramic ball and tuning upgrades allow on this MBC), but I can move that responsiveness around in the rev range. Has anybody played around with these upgrades? What sort of results and consistency can I expect?

Turbo XS DSBC is a good one too! Best mod on my car. Very reliable and allows for in-cabin switching to higher boost. Faster turbo spool and stage 1 setting can be left at stock psi for maximum traction.
