Bomz SRI

Just ordered this from an Ebay auction. I have searched this forum and have seen info on bracketing this so it doesn't hit the master cylinder and replacing the filter with a real K&N one. Anyone have any pictures of this SRI and how they rigged it up? What is the model # for the K&N filter to replace the one with this one? Any other tips?

Yep. "Bomz SRI" comes up with nothing and most discussions regarding these Ebay SRI's show some pictures, and say "use search for more". Not sure how buried the actual real info is.

After seeing the first comment being "use search", I got the message :) .

There are a few pictures of bracket mounting laying around. Not the intake in question however most the Ebay SRI are pretty much mount the same way.
Think Stealth5 posted some pretty good pics of his setup. (hold I have it somewhere)

Here is a decent shot of what he did

Just remember when mounting it that the engine will shift back when in gear, so give enough cleareance to adjust for that. But for the most part the hitting the brake res line isn't a huge concern.
It did it orginally on mine but just a simple torquing of the bracket forward a bit solved the problem.

Down in my sig there is a link to my car's page. There I have some pics of the Bomz SRI installed in my car. :D

Sorry for my lack of knowledge...is that just a standard bracket one could buy at Home Depot (or Menards)?

I think so...you could make your custom bracket too. but you have to drill holes for the attachments

i hope you guys realize, your almost defeating the whole purpose of an intake, wiht the reciruclating hose, that hose is blowing hot air right into the intake, unfiltered air at that, id suggest removing that and cutting the hose down to about a inch and mouting a lil pop filter and letting that air just blow off to the atmosphere, u might notice a performance increase, just a suggestion.

I seen this done on alot of cars. and i'll be doing it when i get my injen cai.

for the whole on the intake u have now just cork it up with somethign, alot of time the intakes come wiht a lil cap, if not im sure u can find a way to plug it.

btw if im wrong someone pls correct, me, but i think im right. lol.

It doesn't seriousely hurt to have the crankcase vent back into the intake, but yes they do make a filter that plugs over it. Intakes generally on most applications do not net huge HP results from colder air being introduce. Much more notable influences exist that contribute to this such as the type of intake piping, diameter, placement etc. So having it vent into the piping doesn't really hurt it to much compared to other influences.

Its called a Crankcase Vent Filter, and is on the list to add.

Not sure about the Proteges but on DSMs you would sometimes get a oily spray developing around the area so some put in a catch can or vent to help keep the valve cover clean.

im definately doing it on mine, yeah crank case filter thats right coulnd't remember the name, but i dont wnat it recirculating hot air into the intake defeats the purpose of a cai i know thats shot ram but i still dont see the purpose of puting hot air into the intake like that nad let it recirculate.

hmm, if the crankcase valve blowing that air back into the intake, why do i need a filter, shouldnt the air just come right out? ordoes the filter go on the intake piping?

There is a small amount of "oil" that can be spit back out of the crankcase valve heance why the filter, plus don't want anything to get in there. Least that is a simple explanation.

And no the filter goes on where the valve cover meets the top of the head. (Where the hose from the intake is going now). Put the filter there and plug up the intake pipe inlet.

i think they have the vent filters at autozone, i thought they were keychains or something
