hey has n-e-one painted there headlights bodycolored? how would you guys think it would look instead of a JDM headlight housing! of course it doesnt count if your MP5 is black but i own a white MP5 and was wondering would it look dudus if it was painted white? so if n-e-one has some feed back or has done this with pics. (doesnt need to be white) i would much appreciate it!

peace....

Silver P5 here. I think they look just fine. :)

dont u run into problems though when putting the head lights back together that they're no longer air tight and moisture can get in there?

Yeah those lights are from a guy uup here in TO they look great, I did mine black on a black car and I think they look sweet. If you seal them properly there should be no leaks

They are not airtight. They have 3 drain plug hoses running from the middle and corners.

I painted mine black and they look sweet...

the AZ group just got together and di this, we had a yellow, lazer blue, and 2 silvers I think that did theirs flat black and I did mine in mica black(i have midnight blue p5) and I think they all look really really good.

If it werent for all the hassle of baking and sanding the lights I would do them again when my color coded paint arrives today, I was supposed to do em midnight blue at the bbq but my paint didnt come in in time. =(

I think the black mica looks great. I just sanded, used a duplicolor clear primer meant for use on auto plastics(2 coats) and then did 4 coats of the black mica which was actually a stock truck and van paint from duplicolor I found at autozone. It almost matches the mazda black mica perfectly, just a little more metal flakes in it.

Pictures coming tomorrow.

the great thing is the black mica paint i used was like 3.99 and the clear primer the same, so it was under 10 bux for both inc tax.

I still hvae most of the can of clear primer and used most of the can of black mica(plus I painted my shorty aluminum antenna the black mica also).

I wont get off work today untill its dark out so tomorrow mornign I will wash my car as I planned to and take new pics of everything since I have chnaged a few things since the last pic session =P

Whats really cool with black mica is cause of the way the sun reflects off the metal flakes in the paint it perfectly matches the C/F eyelids I have in direct sunlight, actually all the time.

I did mine red to match my P5 and put in blue leds to look like the JDM lights. They look tight as hell. I just can't get my hands on a friggin dig. cam. to post pics. I did this awhile ago and got nothing but compliments. Peace.

did u put the blue leds in the turn signal housing or in the low beamds? or maybe the hi beams i forget where the stock city light sits in the EDm headlights....

I put the leds in the high beam housing right behind the turn signal area. So, when you look head on, you can't even see the led because the turn signal blocks it, but you can see the blue reflected light scattered in the high beam housing. Looks bad ass at night. I want to post pics but don't have a dig cam. Arghhh.

is that legal?

here are my pics now, i have 2 city lights made up and rdy to go but I was gonna put em in the turn signal housing....maybe not now.

anyway here u are, I will edit this with a link to the full pic thread im about to make.

p5sundevil,
I can't really tell what you are trying to show in your pics due to the glare off the light covers. Are you just showing your black housing or where you are putting the city lights? I can't tell. As far as legality, no, they are not legal. However, I have HID type lights (I know, I should get real HID, blah, blah) that are blue in color that kinda mask the city lights when on at night. You can only tell they are on if up close or if I only have my fogs and parking lights on. I had them on for over a year and no trouble with the law (knock on wood...err my head). Again, that is here in Minnesota though. Good luck with yours and post pics cause I can't. Peace.
