1st day at this & probably in wrong area but need advice. trying to fix sisters 2003 Mazda "Tribute LX-v6". The accelerator is stuck wide open. It starts wide open. I can't find forum for "Tribute LX-V6'" or anything close. Would appreciate a hint on where to go. Thanks bobirw

I'm no car genius but if the car is starting with the accelerator wide open, and the pedal isn't pushed to the floor, maybe your throttle is stuck all the way open under the hood? I don't even know where you would look to check that though, Sorry. Just a suggestion.

yeah sounds like the throttle plate is just stuck open. Pull off the intake piping at the throttle body and look.

I googled "2003 tribute throttle cable",

first result found this link implying a recall for the condition you described. Not sure if your car falls within the specified build date. (Build Dates : 20010530 - 20031219 )
