Bluetooth Install Help

I did some searches and was unable to find the answer so here you go. I installed a bluetooth kit the other day in my 2007 non-bose 3 and followed the pin-out below. I used pin L for the telephone mute but I can't get the mute to work with the bluetooth kit or when I ground the L pin. My understanding was if the L pin is grounded it would mute the radio but this doesn't seem to be working. So essentially the bluetooth unit rings or I place an outgoing call and the radio doesn't mute. Again its an 07 so I have the clarion radio. Do I need to use a relay? Just trying to figureo ut what I'm missing. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
