Ok, so parts are ordered for rebuilding my blown engine, and here is the list:

Wiseco pistons
K1 rods
ARP head studs
ARP main studs
gasket set
bearing set
DNP manifold
ATP catted dp
PG inlet with gt coupler (will be selling my Cobb)
gt2871 turbo

Hopefully I get everything to the shop soon so I can get this thing assembled. I hate my rental Camry perhaps more than I will hate driving my car with no boost until it breaks in and gets re-tuned!

Goodluck with the build...list looks very good...what exactly happened to your engine..I see you had a custom 19 psi cobb tune..what went wrong?

Rod #4 bent under load. I also had a burnt intake valve on cyl#4 as well, but I'm not sure what came first. Detonation was probably the cause, and high boost probably lead to the detonation. I hit around 24psi when it let go. The high boost is the result of the ecu attempting to hit a tq target at lower rpms, which is when it broke @3800rpms. From what I have researched, the 3000-4000rpm range seems to be the "blown-zone" for the majority of failures.

Best of luck with the build, man. Lemme know if you need a hand with anything.

I really appreciate it! When it comes time to install the cams, I could use a hand double and tripple checking the timing. Everything was marked before it came out, but that part makes me a little nervous!

I bent #4 rod too.

Mine also happened in the danger zone around 3500 rpm zone. Watched boost go up to 25psi =( knock sensor was going off the charts.

Had to get a new stock short block in my car.

I did have a strong vibration coming through my clutch pedal and an audible ticking sound. Knew it wasn't good.

i had corksport rp + dp, cobb intake, forge bpv, and a cobb ap protune.

what happened to your block that you had to replace it?

how did she blow? too bolted?

I don't think it was the bolt-ons as much as the boost/tune/poor luck. However, I have read about every part combination blowing, so I'm starting to think it's just bound to happen regardless if you enjoy getting on your car unless you build your bottom end.

wow good luck with the build...if it was tuned at 19 psi...

what caused it to spike at 24 and let the engine blow?

isnt that what a tune is for? and access port?

am right around the corner from you...would luuuv to see this in action when all done! good luck

very impressive collection of parts...if my speed3 wasnt a daily i'd be right there with you.

when do you plan to be all completed?

makes me with my project was done...waiting on the block at apex machine shop.

Hopefully driving on Wed if all goes well. You shouldn't be worried about this set up for a daily! I plan on driving the wheels off of it when it's done, seeing that I now have 40k into a 27k car! Modding is indeed bittersweet!
