"Improvement" in technology. Forgot the quotes.
A bit more sibling rivalry between old gen and new gen.
I've never seen anyone on OG complain about the range. Either to short or too long. That's because it's "just right".
I've never had anyone close in on my blind spot so fast that it caused any issue at all. Y'all are just trying to make yoursleves not hate it. Admit it... it's too broad.

I would say overall the driver assists are well executed in the gen2 CX-5. I personally have experienced the gen1 enough to comment on it.
I'm disappointed in this feature because it extends about 2-3 car lengths behind the back of this vehicle, when it should be approximately half of that.
You've got the lights (and audible indicator, for those who keep it turned on) indicating a "blind spot" vehicle far too frequently, IMO. I feel as if it's becoming white noise that I don't take seriously enough anymore because there are too many false indications.
Wish there was a way to shorten this indication path length, not unlike how you can adjust the cruise control for 1-2-3 car length distances ahead of you.
Never having a vehicle with this feature before, are there others which have a proper blind spot length?
Basically, I think it should extend one vehicle length behind your car and no further.
Sorry if this is a subject that's already been hashed out here (didn't think to search the forum until reaching this point of my post).
Yup approach speed is a factor and this is described in the manual.
Anyone else have it go off when you’re in a multi lane turn intersection?
Ok. Hate people like you. Glad you have it. [emoji38][emoji38]Personally I like it. Although the vehicle behind may not be in the blind spot, the warning extending to more then 1.5 car lengths is allowing for a safer distance to change lanes.
I admit that I am "one of those guys" that will often change lanes when I have space, even though I am creating an unsafe following distance for the car i just got in front of. The BSM reminds me to be a little more courteous. It doesn't always work to make me more courteous, but it does sometimes.

Detected approaching vehicle in alert area, or detected a vehicle which will reach alert area front end [the CX-5's rear bumper] within 5.5 s
If it causes me to touch my brake, you're a prick.
(lol2)
Isn't "only beep when I use my turn signal" still an option?
Wouldn't it brake in that situation? Not his fault if you prefer a safe following distance. (silly) That's what MRCC is for.
Right. On my car you can set it to beep always or ONLY with turn signal. Still the same?
