black_venom122's P5 Build Thread

How? I didn't see a way to replace the bulbs in the fog lights. Hmmm I never thought about it that way. Maybe you're right, it's time to lose the stickers. And my main focus isn't on a body kit, my main focus is buying a new engine, building it, and throwing a t3/t4 turbo on it. I want to get that s*** underway fast, I'm already saving up for it all. And I already have the HID kit for my headlights, I just wanted my fog light bulbs to emit the same color of light as my HID's.

If you take the fog light out you will see three screws and once you remove those you can remove the bulb

Yeah I know a little about turbo maintenance but I'm still reading up on turbo care and what not. It's a big step to take so I want to make sure I'm well educated in turbochargers because that's a lot of money to spend on something and then have it go to s*** because I was an idiot haha. And I was planning on doing it all the at the same time, just start building a motor on the side and build it with the turbo so that way I can just drop it all in.

Oh and thanks for the info about the fog lights! Now I just have to get some haha. On a side note I was thinking about debadging the rear of my car except for the "Protege5" badge (which I want to paint black and repaint the "5" red), what do you guys think?

So now you know if you see a badge less Protege, it is a bigger deal than it looks... It was Welded Filled and Painted..

Alright, taking small steps here but I just ordered the Corksport urethane exhaust hangars to fix my rattling exhaust problem (hopefully). Next paycheck I think I'm going to get some new fog lights. =) Also I'm thinking about painting that little bottom section of my rear bumper where it dips in flat black, I've seen a few P5's on here that have that painted black and I think it looks good. Input?

On a darker car it is less dramatic, but I have seen it on Midnight Blue and it looks great.

Yeah I know it wouldn't stand out as much as on a lighter color but I think it would still look good. I think I'll give that a try now that the Mazdaspeed sticker is off the rear. And if I don't like the way it looks, oh well. Gives me an excuse to repaint my rear bumper haha

Here are 4 pics of my car as of 11/25/11. We had some nice weather today for a change so I decided to wash her and get her cleaned up. Also, it shows my car with the black housing headlights better than the other 2 bad pics of them, and updated pic of the rear without the "MAZDASPEED" sticker. Enjoy! =)

Car looks good man, keep up the good work... I like the bkack housing headlights with the midnight blue, makes me wanna do that to mines

visiongt9506: Thanks, its nice to receive positive comments about my car, I really appreciate them. And I recommend going with the black housing, it cost me $6 or so for a rattle can of hi-temp flat black and about 2 hours of my time. Completely worth it in my opinion, I think the black looks so much better than the chrome with the midnight blue.

walkingchaos: Thanks! That's actually my favorite part of the car is the wheels, I think they compliment the car perfectly =)

Rolled 160k today.....sad day =\ But she is still running strong! Never leaked a drop of anything in the 30k I've put on it =)

If you do decide to paint the rear bumper, I'd recommend using PlastiDip. It's about $6 and is super easy to do. Just cover up everything you don't want sprayed. It comes out as a soft plastic, and looks sharp. Best of all, if you don't like it, simply peal it off!

This is mine. I did 5 coats, once every half hour, then let it sit overnight.

How I wish the previous owner hadn't used the rear bumper as a battering ram (doughpoke

Thank you much for the input! So where can I buy that stuff? Because that would be great to just be able to peel it off if I don't like it. Also, what kind of prep work did you have to do, did you do any sanding? I really like the way it looks on your P5.

Thanks! You'd probably have to go to Home Depot or Lowes to get it. Your neighborhood tool store (Ace Hardware) probably won't have it. All you have to do is make sure the surface is clean, no sanding required (2thumbs)

That is excellent news! I will have to look into that. How long ago did you do it and how is it standing against the test of weather and time?

I did it at the beginning of the summer. So far it has held up very well, I haven't noticed any deterioration or peeling. You can wash it along with the rest of the car. I am interested to see how it handles the winter, but I don't foresee any issues. Worst comes to worse, I still have about 75% of the can left ;)
