Yellow MSP
If anyone is interested, there is a black MSP for sale at Todey Mazda in Oxnard,CA. Ask for Stephen the finance manager. They got it in on Friday and have had a couple nibbles. He is asking $5,000 over MSRP, but it is negiotiable!

$5k over MSRP. LOLROF! You're kidding, right! :wtf: Is it April Fools Day or something. Like many on this board I had my name on a waiting list since September and got mine for MSRP when the first was delivered.

I am sure this dealer will find a someone desparate enough, and yes I know that they are allowed to charge whatever they want (wrt to economic rules of supply and demand) but I think it is disgraceful. I work in the auto industry, specifically on dealer systems and it still shocks me with what goes on what they try to pull...

All prospective MSP owners should shop around and buy from a reputable and fair dealer. I recommend strongly Bill Cook in Farmington Hills, MI - ask for Mike Caton (tell them Andrew sent you).

My 2 pennies worth

Oh, BTW.... this came from the Mazda VP of sales to all dealers. Perhaps TOADey Mazda never got the memo...

"....We are very proud of this car and confident that the list price represents a fair value for the consumer and a fair profit for the dealer. We also know that with limited availability and straong demand many dealers will be tempted to capitalize on this situation by adding addendum stickers. While this strategy provides a short-term gain in growth profits, at the same time
It is detrimental to customer satisfaction. Hurting the customer by
arbitrarily **** prices will damage the Mazda brand and lower customer retention and loyalty. That translates into lower brand value and lower profits in the long run.

I am aksing all of our Mazdaspeed dealers to think carefully about your pricing strategy and be certain to look down the raod as you sell and service these fine products today and going forward."

I know that $5000 over MSRP sounds nuts. I was going to buy an orange one from Todey, but decided to go with a P5 instead (i have to carry lots of stuff for work). They were going to sell me one for $20500 plus tax, title, license. I know they are willing to lower the price. They tacked on 5k at the request of a regional manager. So I heard.

So they are selling the slightly more limited Orange one for MSRP, and are attempting to sell the less limited black one for $5k over.

Hmmmm?

Ain't GREED wonderful

Don't even get your ears dirty talking to those guys. Plenty of good dealers around willing to sell at MSRP.

I am used to getting close to invoice so MSRP is tough enough to swallow. For my wife's Town and Country I offered $1000 below invoice on a car in dealer stock (yeah, with the hold backand dealer incentives they were doing OK). Then during writing up the deal with the finance guy I produced $2000 customer loyalty dollars which the dealer obviously accepted because it does not hurt them. Applied the $2000 as a cap cost reduction on the lease and voila my lease was based on $3k below invoice! I think the market is softer now then ever before so NEVER offer more than invoice on the first pass thru.
