Black Enkei RPF1's

According to the spreadsheet I've been putting together over the last year the RPF1's are the best performance gain for the least amount of money...out of all the 18" rims I'd be willing to put on my car that is.

Everyone else that makes decent looking 16-17lb wheels wants $500+ per wheel. But I'd still give my left nut for a set of Volk CE28N's. :)

Do you like Enkei's SBC finish Steve? I didn't see you mention it. It looks just slightly lighter than the gunmetal finish. Those might look pretty good on a silver car.

I saw the SBC, but I'm not a fan of the polished or chrome look.

I've been looking at a dark wheel, but I really don't want a flat black one, makes it look cheap. These are glossy, which would look alright.

I agree that only in rare circumstances does a flat black wheel look good. Outside of that 1 in 40 instance, they look cheap and crummy.

I think that a lowered Speed6 can pull off the black or darker rims. Stock hieght it makes it look to much like a 4X4. I think you should take the 4 worst of the 8 speed6 wheels you will have and have them powder coated the color you want and throw the Parada's on there for summer and leave the other 4 with the winter set up stock color (trade in purposes if needed later on). Wieght of rims on a 4k lb car is irrelevant. You will be better off losing the wieght yourself, not off the rims. Especcially where we live. Lighter is often not as strong!

By all means stay fit and be at a healthy weight. However, wheels are part of unsprung weight on a car. They are effectively dead weight, but a necessary dead weight. Reducing that unsprung/dead weight as much as possible is crucial to handling and greatly helps acceleration. Ask Neofolis how he likes his big, heavy wheels and he will be the first to tell you about his mistake.

Greatly reducing unsprung weight can make an incredible difference to a car's handling characteristics. These cars are spec'd at I believe 3600 pounds, but are actually just a few pounds over 3500. The benefits of shedding unsprung weight versus sprung weight are not even comparable. You might as well say for every unsprung pound you lose, it's as if you're losing 15 sprung pounds.

I was going to get these this winter in time for summer. I was told they wouldn't fit by Tirerack. Yes they spec out the same as the O.Z's but they said NO. I have a feeling they don't know what they're saying... They told me black didn't exist either and it was in the Enkei site at the time too.

I went with some inexpensive Rota's to get me by for now. Flat black and I must disagree, doesn't look cheap. However, I do agree some color is needed to break up the color and mine have the ever so trendy red stripe around the outside.

I noticed that the website doesn't show the black RPF1's as a match for our car either. I think it's a system issue, or for some reason, they're not set up to match our hubs.

Tirerack has a bunch of wheels filtered wrong for the MS6. I hate how they don't allow you to look at any details until you filled out your car make/model...at which point half their inventory disapears.

The Black RPF1's are a special order itme from Enkei. A shop is required to order at least 40 peices in the same fitment to get the black. This is why most companies do not list the black RPF1's, as you cannot order them on a single set basis from Enkei.
