The 1.8L coils have a lower resistance than the stock P5 coils (according to the tech manual). This equals more spark supposedly. Locating the coils away from heat is a fantastic idea for longevity. Mazda's bright idea to put them on top of the VC was surely just a crappy attempt to save money (regardless of voltage drop that a spark plug wire might impose, it still sucks). Nology makes a kit like this too, but my experience with those wasnt good. The jackets crack very fast and there was no noticeable gain (especially for the cost). The 1.8L conversion is the way to go, unless you have a standalone of course....
 
so spent a few hours in the garage yesterday, few changes..

good call. i really wanna do that to my im. how long did it take you to remove the IM?

and while its out i reccomend pming lewis7789 about what he does to IMs. he said removing the flaps and a light port and polish makes the car pull harder from 4k+. its probably worth the time.

that's already been done to my manifold... it takes me about 15mins to remove min start to finish but I have done it a few times now and i don't have all the lines and wires in the way since i hide most of them..
